Chance of getting in and will my personal statement matter?

Back after 2-3 years of inactivity!

I’m currently a high school junior and I’ve been looking through my gpa and the schools I want to apply to. I know that I have a firm shot at CSUs, but it is the UCs that I’m worried about.

Current unweighted GPA: 9th- 3.1667, 10th- 3.0, and at this rate,11th- 3.6
Current weighted GPA: 9th- 3.1667, 10th- 3.5, and at this rate, 11th- 4.0

My highest SAT score is 2120 (CR- 780, Math- 640, Writing- 700)
My highest ACT score is 29

I’ve taken AP World History in sophomore year and I received a 3 on the exam. I’m currently taking AP Chemistry and AP U.S History and will be taking those exams this May.

I’m involved in my school newspaper and I have a key role in business where I sell advertisements and arrange fundraisers. Think of it as a treasurer of a club.

I’m think about applying to UCB, UCSD, UCI, and UCR for the UCs. I really wonder what my chances are of getting into those schools, especially Berkeley and Irvine since they are my dream schools. Also, would my personal statement be taken into consideration of the admissions process?

Thank you!

Your SAT score is competitive, but your GPA will hurt your chances at some UC’s… For UCB/UCSD, you need to be close to a 4.0 UC (capped) or higher. For UCI, you may have a decent chance and UCR looks close to a Match. 2 good essays will boost your chances. Repost with your final UC GPA at the end of your Junior year for a better chancing. Good Luck.

Thank you! I’ve been maintaining all A’s this semester, so hopefully it’ll stay that way
