Chance of transfer

Hello, I will be submitting an application to rice for the Fall semester. What are my chances of being accepted?

I was a bum in high school and did the bare minimum, leaving with a 2.7 GPA. So I joined the Army after graduating. I served for five years as an Intelligence Analyst and completed two tours to Iraq. I was honorably discharged in June and have been attending the Lone Star College System. I currently have 25 credit hours with a 4.0 GPA. All core curricular type classes. I am pursing a degree in engineering. I will be applying to both Tamu and Rice. I will be utilizing the GI Bill to pay tuition.

I do not have may extracurricular activities to add to the application, do you think my military service would suffice?

I will be taking the SATs in a couple of weeks. How high do I need to score?

Thanks for any help!

I think you have a great chance, as long as you state your passions for what you did in the army and how it made you the person you are today. Military service is an obvious make up for no EC’s since usually you dont have too much time to do anything else. Just make sure somewhere you state what you like to do, whether it be playing chess or basketball. and for the Sat’s i say you should go for a 2200 to make up for the high school stuff.

Best of luck
