Chance this Indian Male Rugby Player for Dartmouth RD :)

Hi All. I am a current senior at a suburban high school in Houston, TX. I really want to apply RD to Dartmouth. I would apply ED, but I can't afford to get into an ED contract due to financial obligations . Anyways, sorry about the chatter. Here are those cold, hard stats!

*Intern at Texas A&M University's chemical engineering department for summer under a TAMU professor's laboratory
*Intern at local business (SAP Consulting)

Essays: working really hard on these...however not the best writer; much better speaker than writer
Teacher recommendation: AP Calculus teacher-don't know she's renowned for her recs but I only know her for like a month (we talk a lot, but I still don't know what she will write...maybe I'll drop a few hints or something)/AP English teacher-knows me REALLY well...hoping she'll write a good one ;)
Other Recommendation: TAMU professor that I worked with; He is on the news a lot and known in the engineering industry
Counselor rec: generic/too many kids...but I plan to maybe help her write it because I know she might be overwhelmed and could use the help
Interview: Am really hoping for one because I know my stats are way too low for this school

Misc: Father is unemployed; Will graduate with 12 AP Classes-close to highest in my school

Just an update…I did not submit any SATIIs…I have applied for a testing waiver…Also, Dartmouth won’t be looking at ACT since I’m taking it on Feb 8th and deadline is January…thanks for your chances! :D

You have decent SAT scores and gpa UW is decent as well. For some reason your AP scores are low, but your class rank is great. You have great ECs. I would say its a decent shot at it? The testing part is a little confusing which is why I say “decent”. If the AP scores were a little better (4s and 5s) then it would be a better match. Good Luck though! I’m applying to Dartmouth too:)

It’s a reach, especially since you’re an ORM and an international applicant. Definitely apply, but try to procure amazing teacher recs and write thoughtful, unique essays.

Best of luck!

For your rugby thing, contact the school’s coach. I did that for some college rugby coaches for the schools I’m applying to and they said I could get a little help in the admission process. I’m in the same rugby thing you are except in Illinois (you’re stats are much better than mine though lol)

Thanks for your input guys! @GeologyRocks-haha I think that’s a good idea!

Can’t help with chances, just wanted to point out OP is a domestic applicant if he is a resident in the US regardless of nationality.

Anyone else with any input? :)

InfoQuestMom-Thank you for your input! But despite living in the U.S. for 11 years, I am neither a permanent resident nor a citizen :frowning: …I am hoping to receive my permanent residency next year…Thank you for filling in anyways! :)

Hey bud, were you recruited? And if is, how?

Thanks guys! BookBook- I was actually not recruited haha…Since rugby isn’t D1 at most schools, most schools don’t bother for recruitment and it’s more of a club thing…That being said, I live in Texas and rugby is growing here…so you never know  Anyone else with any chances?

In that case I would say your chances are average. Make sure that you explain you are going through hard times economically with your dad and talk about your internship because that’s a big one.

How did you not submit any SAT II scores? I was under the impression that Dartmouth requires two SAT II tests from all applicants and the last testing date they accept is January.

<a href=“Apply to Dartmouth | Dartmouth Admissions”>Apply to Dartmouth | Dartmouth Admissions;

@InfoQuestMom: you’re mistaken. To be considered a domestic applicant, one must have either citizenship or perm residency. Regardless of domicile.

Rating- I filed for a testing waiver due to the recent circumstances my family has undergone :)…Hopefully it is accepted

@BookBook You could say I was recruited. All you have to do is contact the school’s rugby coach (I’m assuming you’re talking about rugby). You might have to fill out a questionnaire or something, but you definitely want to contact the coach and he can give you information on all that stuff. It’s pretty low profile and not as cut-and-dry as officially sanctioned NCAA recruiting.

Anyone else with any more input? :)

So I put in a testing waiver e-mail to Dartmouth a week and haven’t received a response…I basically described my father losing his employment and my parents splitting up…That is, I was a bit preoccupied with the unstable times at my house that really didn’t have time to take the tests and keep up with school at the same time…In fact, I wasn’t even going to apply until a few days before the deadline (P.S. did not put this detail in lol)…Anyways, is it common to not receive a response to the testing waiver? Please let me know if any of you had experienced similar circumstances. Thanks for your help, CCers! :)
