Applicannot, if you are really bothered by no mention of the Chancellor’s in your scholarship notification and want to apply for it, I would contact OAFA. I’ve seen your stats, they’re excellent and it would be ridiculous to snub you like this.

applicannot, basically I think the “Chancellor’s Nominee” and “Honors Tuition” scholarships are invited to apply for the Chancellor’s. If you received a different type of full tuition scholarship (such as Honors Challenge, I don’t know quite what you received), but your stats WERE high enough to receive one of the latter two, I agree with schrizto, contacting the OAFA would be a good idea.

I’d like to know this also. I have a feeling that Pitt really favors oos applicants.

I received the “Honors Challenge Full Tuition Scholarship.” What scholarship are you guys receiving? My SAT was a 1470 and I have a great GPA and rigor. I’m not ridiculously torn up about it because Pitt is my safety, but if nothing else the deadline would help me develop ideas and winning the scholarship could very well mean seeing you in Pittsburgh next year. What’s the difference between the Honors Tuition and the Honors Challenge?

What the heck? So you guys are saying there’s three different names for the same full-tuition scholarship?

The Challenge is the diversity scholarship. I agree Applicannot should call OAFA and see what’s happening with the Chancellor’s invitation.

You can either call OAFA or email using the address on the OAFA website. The number to call is on this website, as are the emails of people in OAFA, such as the director of admissions and financial aid, who might be able to help you.

I don’t know, I kind of hate to call about it. I’m thinking I would have gotten the invite if I were supposed to have gotten it. I’ll check it out tomorrow. Does anyone know about the other room, board, and full tuition scholarships, like Helen Faison?

Helen Faison is for economically disadvantage students – I think there is 5 awards available. I assume they would notify you if chosen for it.

Yes, there are many scholarships for diversity and the Challenge is one of them. Once again, we are not privy to the exact qualifications that Pitt is using so what may be true last year may not be this year.

Well, I’m not totally broken up about it. It’s a bummer, but it’s not that big of a deal - with any luck I won’t be going to Pitt. I know that sounds bad, so I want to put it in context. Pitt is my safety school. Amazingly, of all the schools on my list, I anticipate this is my worst financial aid package. And think about how awesome it is. Also, on a scale of ten, ten being utter perfection, Pitt is a seven or an eight - so I’d be extremely happy there. That’s why I chose it. But in the end it IS my safety school, so hopefully I’ll have seven other financial aid packages to consider May 1st.

I live in PA and got notified for the full tuition and Chancellor’s in one letter a week ago. I received my regular acceptance from Pitt in mid October

I’m also from PA, and I’m same as prismatic, probably just about a week later (got scholarship letter two days ago).

I just finished my app and mailed it in on Thurs. Now the waiting begins :(

If I just received the Helen Faison scholarship is there any point in my applying for the Chancellor’s scholarship? From what I read they both cover the same costs. Also, Helen Faison is based on minority not economic status seeing as I don’t require any financial aid.

Yes, Helen Faison is awarded to minority applicants. Congrats! There is no need to apply for the Chancellor as you have a full ride already and they would not award you another one that covers the same costs.

Got a confirmation email that they have received all of my Chancellor’s materials. Basically just said now I get to sit and wait for them to decide if I am worthy crossing fingers

They will email you whether you make it to the next round or not.

Yeah, I know. But I could be waiting as long as until the end of January

How long ago did you send in your Chancellor app materials? I submitted mine about two weeks ago and haven’t gotten an email yet.

^D submitted her Chancellor’s app. a little over a week ago and received an email confirmation from Pitt a few days ago that it had been received. She’s not expecting any further notification about until around January…?
