"Chancellor's Reception" for high achieving student

Hi,
I got an invitation to this event yesterday in the mail. You get to meet the chancellor and the deans, faculty, etc. Anybody else got one, and are you going?

Also, does anybody have any idea when the College of Creative Studies start sending out decisions? It was quite confusing...sounds as though you find out in 3-4 weeks, but I don't think that is the case...

Thanks!

I got one of those letters too. ... I already heard about my acceptance to CCS because one of the admissions people basically told my brother that I was accepted.

Hi curlyque5000,
congrats on getting into CCS! any idea when the rest of us find out? Are you going to the reception?

Since your brother is already there, I have a couple of questions. Does he live in the special "CCS House" or a scholars floor? I am interested in the program, but the entire party atmosphere of UCSB is scaring me off a bit. I like to hang out with my friends, but the thought of living in a constant party atmosphere turns me off. What does he think of the living arrangements/social life?

Thanks!

does it mean we're most likely in if we got the invitation? IMO, it wouldn't make sense to invite a reject to it. and why would they call us high schieving students if we weren't accepted?

i just found out that last year my friend got the same invitation. she said it means we're in. YES!

lurkin girl: My brother does not live in the CCS house, he lives in a separate apartment. Your concern about parties was also my concern initially. There are more than plenty of people who don't like the parties very much. That's definately something not to worry about. Something I forgot to mention also is that UCSB isn't as much of a party school as its reputation gives it.
