I got my letter today, two weeks after my interview. I didn’t get the scholarship.
Sorry to hear that @Packrat5000
@Packrat5000, sorry to hear you weren’t awarded the scholarship. Did they offer you a book stipend or anything for making it this far in the process?
It was always my understanding that students invited to apply for Chancellors already had some sort of scholarship from either the UHC or the school (i.e. half tuition, full tuition, etc.) I
@AwesomeOpossum, I just realized that! My son was originally invited to apply for the Chancellor’s and was given $10,000/yr. I didn’t realize at first that the two were connected. He was not chosen to interview for the Chancellor’s scholarship though. He was subsequently awarded the Stamps Scholarship which supercedes any other scholarships so I guess that $10,000 was put back into the pot hopefully to be awarded to someone this year.
Did anyone see that there were no Chancellor’s scholars listed for 2014, and only about 6-7 for 2015?
I wonder how many were awarded and did they just not accept the scholarship (go to another school)?
Of course that might be expected since these are all top stats students.
So it seems that the scholarship does not get awarded to another candidate in that case?
@mommdc, I think there was an error with the date. On this page: http://www.honorscollege.pitt.edu/chancellors-scholars they list the 2014 scholars. On this page, http://cscholar.honorscollege.pitt.edu/recipients they list the names of the 2014 scholars under the year 2015. I don’t think they’ve updated the actual list of 2015 scholars yet.
@curiousinpa, thanks for pointing that out.
I’m in the class of 2020 and was wondering when you get an invite to apply to the Chancellor’s Scholarship? Does it come with your acceptance letter or does it come later?
@jumpingstar i am in the class of 2020 and my invitation for the Chancellor’s scholarship came much later than my acceptance letter
My D is a current freshman and the invitation to apply for Chancellor’s scholarship was included in the letter informing her of her full tuition scholarship last December.
@jumpingstar, as you might know, Pitt has been getting competitive year by year. You probably should be proud of getting in the prestigious Pitt Pre-pharmacy program. Your basic stats such as ACT and GPA might be fundamental to the consideration of a full tuition (around $28000 for OOS) and the prestigious Chancellor scholarships. If the tuition is not a big deal, it would be a wise decision for the program. GL
@J2H239 Yes, it would, of course, be great if I got full tuition or at least some merit aid, but, to be honest, my family can afford it. And I am seriously considering Pitt because of the prestige and overall program. Thanks for the input
That’s great. I believe that you at least could get some of merit-based scholarships, and that you will be happy in here Pitt regarding the program, the campus, and the city.
I just got an invitation for the Chancellor’s Scholarship. Does anyone know how many we should/can send? I can get three recommenders, but the website doesn’t specify how many we should send. Also, is it okay to use a non-teacher recommendation such as a supervisor for a volunteering event?
@DyrannosaurusRex, There is contact information for a member of the Honors College staff who can assist you with any questions you have that are not covered on the Chancellor’s Scholarship site. You can find their contact info on the site under the “Help” tab.

Guessing that interviews will be late Feb/early March again? (No one panic, we haven’t heard anything official!)
@booajo, I believe so, but I can verify for you when I have more information.

@booajo, I am in the office and did a little more digging. I don’t have a specific date range for the interviews to give you. But to give you an idea on the timeline: nominees will hear of their final status no later than April 15.

@hailtopitt1787 Are there specific requirements to be considered for the Chancellor’s Scholarship (e.g. a certain SAT score) or are potential candidates chosen on an individual basis?
