Chances and suggestions for a rising senior?

<p>Hey all!</p>

<p>I'm going to be a senior in a public NJ high school. I'm looking into a career in journalism or communications but obviously that isn't the greatest thing to get into right now so I'm not set on that, I want a school that is strong in other areas as well.
I have a 3.4 as of the end of my senior year. I've taken at least one honors class every year, hopefully senior year I'll be taking AP Gov on top of honors English but I'm having a few scheduling conflicts.
I have an 1870/1270 combined SAT (670 CR, 600 M, 600 W).
I've been on the newspaper 3 years, as Op-ed and now News editor.
I volunteer at my library as tutor to middle school aged kids.
This summer I've been working at a state assemblyman's office. (I'm hoping this will set me apart a little-thoughts?)</p>

Ramapo
Temple
American (a big reach)</p>

<p>I'm looking into:</p>

<p>Fordham
Marymount Manhattan
Ursinus
Montclair State</p>

<p>Anyone tell me what they think my chances are for this list? Any other suggestions for mid-atlantic area schools?</p>

<p>I’d say your a match for TCNJ since I’m thinking of applying there too, but idk about the others.
Try raising your SAT just a little and you’ll be guaranteed a spot on TCNJ and maybe, Rutgers, Ramapo, and Montclair.
Your EC’s look good, too since you have been active in them.</p>

<p>But do you need financial aid?What type of atmosphere do you want, class size??</p>

<p>Thankss! I don’t think I would qualify for financial aid but to go to a private school I would need to get merit money or something, I can’t afford $50,000 a year. I thought I was interested in bigger schools, I went to look at UConn was considering Maryland, but now I think I may want to see some smaller schools for something different. But I definitely want a school with a close proximity to a city.</p>

<p>Does anyone know about Marymount Manhattan? Is it a good school beyond the arts?</p>
