I am currently about to attend Purchase college, which is in the same SUNY system as Stony Brook. However, over the summer I have reevaluated what it is that I wish to study in college, and Purchase does not offer it. Stony Brook, however, does.

I wish to apply as a spring 2014 transfer for the linguistics major. This would mean that I would have to send in my high school transcript and SATs as opposed to my college grades.

Hence, here are my high school statistics.
I ended up getting a GPA around 86 (not so hot, I realize). As for the SAT, I got a 580 in math, 680 in reading, and 780 in writing. I took AP English Literature and got a 4 on the exam. During my junior year, I took Japanese classes at Pace University and got an A in the class, which I'm planning on sending in. The following summer, I studied abroad in Tokyo, though I suppose that's perhaps not entirely relevant.

Anyway, that about wraps it up. Do you think that I have a decent chance here?
