yeah id say your in my sister got in with 500 M, 530 verbal , 520 writing

You are almost certainly going to be admitted to Arizona State University.

1000 % Dont sweat it. Good luck

dude are kidding.. why are u even looking at ASU with those stats. your in 1000000 percent. u guys think i can get in next year with a 82 average..i dont no what that converts to in gpa form. im outa state.

I think he's applying for ASU honors college.

Could I get into the honors program? Should have I applied to it?

you should def. apply to honors college. you should get in.

None of you know what you're talking about at all. He got 1590/2400, not a 1590/1600: this tiny detail changes things considerably.

To the OP: You have a good chance of getting into ASU, but if you want to get into the Barrett Honors College you'll need to take the SAT again or maybe the ACT. The average score for the last incoming freshman class was 1350/1600 and the average GPA was about a 3.8 if I remember correctly.

I got in... Not really suprised at all.

None of it matters though, Ohio State is the one school I'm waiting on. If I get into OSU, then that's where I'm going.

If I don't, then I'll explore my other options

I got into ASU w/ a 2.9 unweighted GPA. Basically anyone with a pulse gets into ASU.

ASU doesn't exclude anyone except for the most unprepared -- why would it? It collects full tuition from every person who gets in, and when many of those people drop out after not having used most of the resources ASU offers, it just benefits the university as a whole and the students who do get scholarships and use the resources. It's good business.

Not really. By that theory, every college would want a maximum number of students, yet ASU is the only one thinking that way. Colleges want higher admissions standards so the students they get will be smarter therefore making the school smarter. ASU has extremely weak standards so they are bringing in anyone who can graduate from high school....which lowers the quality of the school as a whole and gives ASU the "bad" rep it has about its admissions. This is not saying it is dumb as a whole......when looking at a college you must judge looking at the bottom tier student, not just the top, and ASU's bottom tier is far lower then alot of colleges because of its relaxed admissions. Basically, anyone who applys and is able to pay tuition at ASU can go there.....which shouldnt be the case at any college.

Usually the 'smarter' kids can't pay for these 'smarter' colleges...so where do they go?

ASU.

=)

Unless you are out of state where it is over 17K per year for tuition.

.....every school has smart kids. I wasnt saying everyone at ASU is dumb. I meant the lower tier students are far below most colleges since ASU lets anyone in the world into their school. Someone said usually smarter kids cant pay for smarter colleges.....what are you talking about? Usually they get scholarships if they are smart, or finance their tuition at a smarter college in a better manner or if they are in state, at least realize that UofA is cheaper and academically better overall than ASU. (<-This is a fact. You all know this. Its not a knock on every program that ASU has to offer, but overall you have to admit it.)

"Unless you are out of state where it is over 17K per year for tuition."
If you're grades are good enough, that doesn't matter. These smarter colleges only offer great scholarships to either the academically perfect or the economically disadvantaged, which doesn't encompass a large amount of great students. ASU gives amazing scholarships to good students, period.

"UofA is cheaper and academically better overall than ASU. (<-This is a fact. You all know this. Its not a knock on every program that ASU has to offer, but overall you have to admit it.)"

haha, ok, where is you're logic here? Yes, UofA does beat ASU in certain disciplines, and may rank better overall, but only mere points. UofA is cheaper?? UofA gave me $2500 per year...ASU gave me $9000...cheaper now? UofA is pretty frugal when it comes to any scholarships besides National Merit.

If UofA is cheaper than ASU, how come both schools offer the exact same scholarship amounts for National Merit Scholars?

Actually ASU offers $23,000 per year while UA offers $20,000 to OOS National Merit Scholars.

"haha, ok, where is you're logic here? Yes, UofA does beat ASU in certain disciplines, and may rank better overall, but only mere points. UofA is cheaper??
Yeah, you're clearly an ASU fan. UofA is not ranked higher than ASU by a few "mere points", its pretty significant. I think you were trying to make a joke aboutthe cost of both colleges compared to how much you received in scholarships from them.....it kind of backfired. Yes, if you have more scholarships at one school than another, then if will eventually be cheaper. You do realize that the more money you get is in relation to how much they want you to go to that school according to your grades and such. Obviously if ASU gave you more money, then you are higher ranked compared to others than applied to ASU....where as at UofA, you werent as highly ranked compared to other applicants. You also said that smarter schools only give great scholarships to the smartest kids or the disadvantaged. There are many different factors but honestly, if you could get into a better college than ASU(which isnt hard), would you go there? Is money the only thing holding you back? If you go to a better college, eventually the tuition will pay itself back by your job earnings. ASU....%92 acceptance rating....yeah, sure does seem like they are conservative in their admissions.

ASU, I believe, has a very good honors college and a top rated Supply Chain Management Program.
