Chances at Brown, UPenn, Wash. U. STL,

Hey!

What are my chances of admission at: Brown, UPenn, UChicago, Wash. U. STL, UVirginia, Rice U., Georgetown, U. Wash., and U. Maryland- College Park.

I'll be an international transfer student and will transfer after my freshman year. I'm going to transfer from SUNY Stony Brook because I've decided to major in Economics and the economics department here is rather weak. As a Pakistani, I think I might be listed as "Asian" and I believe that's an ORM.

Test Scores:

ACT Composite (superscored): 32 (30 w/o superscore)

ACT English: 33
ACT Math: 34
ACT Reading: 31 (but if a college doesn't superscore then 26)
ACT Science: 28
ACT Essay: 9 (but if a college doesn't superscore then 8)

NOTE: Are SAT II scores needed for transfer applications?

Highschool GPA: 4/4; Valedictorian.
College First Semester GPA: 3.84/4 (I took tough classes to show that I can earn a decent GPA even if I take some of the harder courses).

APs: None, my highschool was in the UAE and offered no AP classes.

ECs:
- Volunteer Work: 200 - 250 hours. I really didn't keep track of this...
- President school Eco club: 1 year.
- Trilingual.
- Cricket: 2 years in a national (under 18) club.
- School Magazine: 2 years (Interviewed a lot of people including the Vice President).
- 1 year of HTML and web designing and 3 years of various Adobe software.
- Helped design yearbook in senior year.
- Part-time work: Organizing data for a business.

Awards and Competitions:
- Top ten regional Math Competition (That's the only ranking they provided)
- Forth place regional General Knowledge Competition.
- Honorable mention for building the second-strongest spaghetti bridge at a Geometry competition. Got disqualified because the measurements were off by a cm (!!!).
- Presentation for a recycling solution to modern IT waste - won nothing because I was notified of it one day before the competition.
- First place regional Adobe Animation Competition.
- Forth place regional PowerPoint Competition.
- Lots of school prizes - Best Creative Writing, First place IT Competition, First Place senior Science Fair (Built an IR scanner), etc.

If you think I could fit in a different college, let me know. I need the college to be strong in economics (of finance), offer undergrad research opportunities, and have a high percentage of student admission to medical schools.
I'll chance back.

Your chances of acceptance as a transfer will be strongly tied to your performance at college. THough high school numbers and test scores are also required, the courses you take and the grades you get at college will serve as the major factor. Check out what the transfer accept rates are th those schools. Some schools have abysmal transfer rates. Also, if you need financial aid, you had better check if you are even eligible as a transfer and/or international student.

Not sure how transfers work but…
Brown:Low Reach
UPenn: Reach
Wash U. STL: High Chance
Good extracurriculars, GPA, and activities
Just low test scores

Good Luck!

@cptofthehouse, Thanks for mentioning fin. aid. I’ll be needing aid for anything over 40k and all of the colleges I listed-except U. Wash. and U. Maryland- offer financial aid to international students. Luckily, U. Maryland costs ~ 40k (for internationals).

EDIT:

I’ll only be able to send my college performance in my first semester so are you sure the admins will focus on it “that” much. And if they do, I think 3.84 GPA should be at least decent, right?

Make sure transfers are also included.

I think you have a pretty good shot at all, but the Ivy leagues will for sure be reaches.

@cptofthehouse, I checked, although it’s more competitive, aid is available for transfers. I seek a small amount so I hope it won’t weaken my application.

Bumppppppp

pakistani is not considered as asian. Since you’re from the middle east, you are considered to be a caucasian student.

But… Pakistan is not part of the Middle East. It’s part of South Asia, arguably maybe part of central Asia even since its largest province was once part of central Asia, but its definitely not a Middle Eastern country.
