Chances at Carnegie Mellon

<p>Hello, I am a rising Senior, and I hoping to apply to CMU's programs Early Decision. I am interested in applying to CIT or SCS. I currently go to an IB public high school in NC. Could you chance me?</p>

President of Science Club (multiple leadership positions, organized multiple competitions for the members to attend physics/chemistry contests)
Math Club (have held multiple leadership positions, responsible for handling monetary duties and communicating information to the members of the club, helped organize math competitions)
Chess club (cofounded)
Red Cross club (participant in community service)
Selected to represent the state as part of math team in the competitions ARML, PUMaC, Stanford, and HMMT competitions multiple years.</p>

<p>Recommendation letters: Math, physics, and chemistry teachers love me. Also, guidance counselor's rec letter should be decent, I think.</p>

<p>College essays: Not so sure. I think I can write about a unique identity, I come from a single parent home and am pretty responsible and self reliant I think.</p>

<p>In summary, GPA is reasonable, and I think the awards, extracurriculars, and standardized test scores could definitely be improved. I would really appreciate if you guys (alumnis, current students, fellow applicants would be great!!) could chance me. Thanks so much! And any other recommendations for schools to apply to would be wonderful. I am hoping to do some engineering/computer science major.</p>

<p>You have a great chance at both the schools. Applying early will definitely increase your chances. Write good essays and you will be in.</p>
