Chanced back!

You seem to be a very qualified applicant for CMU, and they should be happy to gave you if they decide to do so. I would also put it as a “match”, but who knows with the crazy acceptance rates these days! Have you given any thought to GATech, Duke, Vandy, or even some Ivies (you never know)? Good luck with your applications & thanks for chancing me!

Thank you  And I do have a legacy at Duke, but i think my chances are too slim there :stuck_out_tongue: I will definitely try Vandy, Rice and other schools though!

Bump

I think you have a pretty solid chance of acceptance to Carnegie Mellon. Good Luck!

CMU: match
Duke: high match
Vandy: match
Rice: high match

Thanks!
chanced back

All are high matches/low reaches.

@wannabefeynman‌ Thanks! Is there anything I can do to improve my chances? And is it still a high match for ED CMU for MCS or CIT?

CMU: match
Duke: high match
Rice: high match

Chance Back Please??
http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1643016-nyu-bu-umd-chance-me-and-i-will-chance-back.html#latest</a></p>

Yes, CMU is a high match. Frankly, unless you have outstanding extracurricular activities, it can never be called a match.

I think you look good for CMU. What schools there are you applying to? There are a number and some, (CS especially) have very low accept rates, whereas others are not as selective (H&SS). But I think you will get accepted.

I suggest you ask CMU BEFORE you apply, like now, to do an early read on your financial aid package because at your family income level, you will need financial aid to go there. CMU does guarantee to meet full need BY THEIR DEFINITON, not yours, for ED applilcants, but you had better be prepared what an aid package like theirs will look like because it’s fish or cut bait when you get it in real time. It’s a big hassle and heartache to try to decide right then what you and your family can afford. Do talk to your parents and get some idea what they can and will contribute towards college and do an early read on an aid package, show them what you will likely get as an aid offer from CMU, and what they and you can pay each year.

But yes, I think CMU is a good match for you at most schools. Duke a high reach, Rice low reach, Vandy high match. If you are an engineering major, your chances get better.

CMU is a very high match for you

Chance me back: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1643700-neomed-and-nyit-bs-md-drexel-bs-md.html#latest</a></p>

@wannabefeynman‌ Gotcha, I can respect that. Thanks!

@cptofthehouse‌ I’m thinking of applying to CIT (ChemE) as my first choice, then MCS for chemistry, then H&SS for statistics. Okay, I will definitely do that. I did their online financial aid calculator, and I know that’s a very rough estimate but it said that i’d have to pay ~25K a year with aid. I’ll apply to some scholarships and take out loans, but i will still call them and ask and make sure! Thank you very much for the advice!

@Icefire111‌ Thanks! Chanced back
