I'm an Indian (born:07/10/1996) With a GPA of 10 (out of a possible of 10) in the 10th grade and I've been doing my 11th fairly good with about 89%~90% (CBSE). This time my computer marks got screwed up a bit. Will it affect my admissions? I aspire to study at Georgia Tech. My athletic side is a bit weak, but I participate in a lot of Extra Curricular activites and I've won quite a few prizes as well. I've heard it's quite difficult for Indians to get into US universities. Is it A myth? Please advice.

I’m still in 11th grade and will pass out only by March or April.

As long as you dont need financial aid and get a 1800+ on your SATs, you should be able to get into Georgia Tech.

Hey, BuBBLES FoR SALE. Thanks. What if i needed Financial Aid? Will it be provided? What are the requirements? Please elucidate. Thanks In Advance

^ GeorgiaTech doesn’t offer aid. Others do.
You are in a good position to get in to a good university. You have one year ahead of you - try to show some real dedication towards the ECs you love. Not everybody is an athlete.

There are a lot of things you need to know. Research. All the information is need is usually available on the college’s website!! You just need to look in the right place!!
All the best!!

Bubbles, to say a sat score of 1800 is sufficient wouldn’t be absolutely accurate, I believe the median score at tech is from the mid 1900s to the mid 2100s, so a 1800 is definitely below average.

It isn’t harder for Indians to get in as long as you don’t need financial aid, so just go for it ! :)

Thanks. Will a reasonable decline in 11th marks be a problem? This is because my school does not offer very good marks in XIth grade deliberately. I’ve good marks for 9th and 10th boards (as mentioned above). Please advise. @rishav Thanks. I’ll try my best. P.S I’m no good at athletics. So, technically, it’s a zero in that part of the application. @xoxoviviannnn Thanks for that extra piece of info and the encouragement :)

I should rather say get 1950+/28+ to get into GA Tech.

Just my .02 :)

Although your school may deflate grades for one of the years, that isn’t something you should explain in your app. It may come across as blaming your grades on someone else. As long as your overall gpa is decent, I don’t see a problem with it !

What you might consider doing (and this is what I myself did) is to take sat subject tests. Scoring well on those would prove that you know your course material, and can possibly mediate the subpar grades.

But also don’t expect that it is acceptable to get poor grades as long as your test scores are good. You do need both, but since subject tests are optional a high score might benefit you instead.

Best of luck :)

Thanks, @xoxoviviannnn :)
