Alright thanks. I know all of these schools are a reach but I want to establish if my application is good enough to give me any sort of chance, and if so how likely it is.

Ivy league chances? Ok i will chance for them all. Good luck

Harvard: reach
Yale: reach
Princeton mid reach
Columbia mid reach
Dartmouth: low to mid reach
Brown low to mid reach
U Penn: If Wharton, reach. otherwise a low reach
Cornell: low reach

You have just as a good a chance as any other top applicant.

Looks good on paper.

Oh,you want probability. Well, that’s hard to say, since I don’t know how many applications each school will receive next year, but in general:

Harvard 1:17
Stanford 1:18
Princeton 1:14
Penn 1:8

Odds will be better if you apply ED/SCEA

Ok thanks a lot. Penn (Wharton) has been top choice for awhile, but recently visited Harvard and am now stuck between the two.

You have a very strong application, and you’re just as qualified as any other top applicant, so you’ll definitely get into at least one of these schools.

(Quick note: It’s “Wharton,” not “Warden.”)

Thanks haha. Appreciate your help!

@dmully would you be so kind as to chance me back?

Since you don’t have an SAT listed, it’s hard to totally gauge where you are. However, since you are clearly an amazing student I think you will probably do very well on your testing.

Schools to consider:
Cornell - low reach
Harvard - reach
Stanford - reach
U Chicago - low reach
Northwestern - low reach
USC - match
NYU - safety
Vanderbilt - low reach
U Michigan - safety
UVA - match
UNC - match
UT Austin - safety
Columbia - reach
Brown - reach
Dartmouth - low-ish reach
Emory - match
Georgetown - match
Carnegie Mellon - match
John Hopkins - match
UPenn - reach, match if you apply ED

Please chance me back: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1617448-chance-me-please-i-ll-chance-back.html#latest

Thanks everyone. I have chanced back all that have asked and will do the same for any others who would like me to.

well it depends, how attractive would you say you are from 1-10?

^ LOL. Research is a big deal at Harvard, Stanford, and the like. So, if you win something through Siemens/ Intel, then you will be golden. Make sure to send in a supplement with your research abstract. I don’t think not having an SAT would be too bad, and if you have national merit, it will basically cover up for the lack of an SAT. So, I think you have really good chances, better than most of the top applicants even. However, they are Ivies, and they are random. So, there is obviously no guarantee.

yeah just do what neurogirl says: win intel/siemens and get the national merit scholar ship, psh no biggy.

Someone please answer me this: can colleges actually see how many times you’ve taken the SAT or ACT? I’ve heard a wide range of contradicting answers from everyone i’ve asked, so please answer only if you are sure.
Thanks!

Do I really need the SAT if I have the ACT? I will be taking SAT IIs at the end of this year (Math 2, Physics, Spanish, and US History) and I have a 730 on the Bio SAT II from ninth grade (probably won’t send depending on Physics score).

Also, to answer comment above, what I have heard is that you are technically required to send all scores and the will enforce that policy to the best they can… BUT the ACT organization is independent and will not send or show any of your score reports without your consent. (Unsure of SAT but I imagine its similar)

Yes thanks dmully those were my thoughts as well

Your credentials look great. As everyone else is saying, get a good SAT score to prove it.
Looking at your ECs, though, it appears as if you are involved, but only in academic pursuits and some tennis. There isn’t anything distinguishing yourself as a great student outside of school, and colleges are looking for well-rounded–not just in academics, but in music, art, design, or other fields. I’d say Harvard and Stanford would be toss-ups for you (they are for everyone), but you have good chances at Penn and Princeton.

Good luck!
