...why not take that many SAT II's? just wondering? Especially if he/she does well - I don't see why not? It shows a variety of knowledge, I believe. Btw, I think michigan is a match/low reach for you. What state do you live in?

Well, just going solely off those numbers and the three ECs:

Harvard-Reject
Princeton-Reject
Yale-Reject
CalTech-Low Match
MIT-Low Match

I know that MIT is starting to look for students that are less focused in the math and science departments so it may be iffy but I also know that's not supposed to start for a few years. Do you have any other ECs? You'll need to make sure that you are strong in other areas because that GPA WILL hurt. What's your class rank?

Doctors: Colleges might see that slew of SATs and start thinking that this student is just a great test taker but a better indicator of actual school performance would be GPA. Why spend time taking so many SATs when he could have been working to improve his GPA. He certainly doesn't need that any SAT Subject tests.

And Kinematic's equations rock!

It is very kind of you all to continue explaining the truth to the OP despite his comments. he is not a gentleman.

HYP: Slight Reach
Caltech - Match
MIT - Match

Basically the same as Karot but assuming that the OP did more than those 3 briefly mentioned EC's (like some community service and etc.).

800 on 10 SATII's are unheard of. Also, Math Olympiad is something that takes real flair to achieve.

is your school incredibly hard? or are you like me - slacker all the way? where do you stand in your class?

and how did you score on the AIME?

slacker

11 AIME

my friend, who has a higher gpa than you, but lesser SAT score (obviously) got into caltech. So you have a chance definetely. You also scored higher on the AIME - i think-, but only because he was having an off day. I know my buddy is a genius, it sounds like you are up there too, or just an insane test taker - however, to ace tests you have to know something. you cant get a 760 on hebrew not knowing what shalom means haha.

You should probably be specific as to your level of achievement in the Olympiads. Are you claiming admittance to the USAMO, the U.S. Physics Team, and the USNCO training camp? Or are you simply stating that you have participated in the three competitions? Because if your case is the former, you have a lot less to worry about than some people make your chances out to be.

Of course, that being said, even with those types of awards, if all you have to put on your application is what you have told us in your original post, you may have to start worrying again. All you'll look like to colleges is a rabid test-taker with no other passions. After all, I heard that MIT deferred an IChO medalist earlier this month (even though this could very much be a rumor).

those scores are very impressive. If they are true, and if ur essays and other stuff were good. I think u can get in any of these schools. However, any of these school can reject you also. What is ur intended major? (I think it would be science/engineering related since ur USAMO and stuff). If ur a science / engineering related major, then Caltech & MIT are not safety school. If you can get into Caltech/MIT engineering school, you can probably get accepted anywhere else in the world for engineering.

and why do you apply to ivies if u wanna do science/engineering? that's like an insult (forgive me if this is not ur intended major)

See, I'm going to have to disagree.

Those scores are phenomenal. I admit. Better than my own, to be sure. And yes, USAMO and AIME are great too, but what does this profile show about you? That you are undeniably gifted, perhaps the most gifted young person I've ever seen, but you are squandering that ability. A 83 average? As you said, you're a slacker; you're lazy. Thats what colleges are going to see in this profile. MIT and Caltech lead the world in scientific inovation. They want people who will make progress, not be vastly brilliant but do nothing with it. I cannot see you being accepted into any of these schools, regardless of your scores.

Top colleges want people who will make a difference in the future, not lazy, albeit insanely smart, kids.

600 in World History?

Automatic rejection from every single college in the US and Venezuela. Son, you're going to be doomed to community college.

Troll indeed.

this thread is like an actual admission office. Some people like his scores and some don't. So basically OP, if you want to know your chances, just start counting. Whichever one has more votes takes the majority. I vote for no to all except CIT.

haha wow well said ^. except i don't agree about his predictions, i think this is the case where you see "1% GPA 3.0-3.33" and people think "wow there is some chance for me!"

There is a chance, but I think this guy has that slot taken- even though you are really lazy - I think colleges will recognize the talent and take you in and make you work

Quick note: University of Michigan puts a very high stress on GPA; just a warning.

What type of school do you attend: public or private?

Excellent point, and I agree wholeheartedly. A mod should repost it and sticky it to the top of this section.

I am doom for community college :-(

Why's that?

how many sittings did you take all those SAT IIs in?

redbirdz, your stats just plain suck. My brother's SAT Score: 2400
GPA 4.0 w/o any adjustments.
Hardest Curriculum
All 800 on 3 SAT 2 (At least he has a life)
Sports, cross country, tennis, basketball
good extracurrics

you are just a nerd who has no life.
BTW, you suck

Your academics are superb. in at CalTech and MIT. not sure about your e.c.'s ,so i'd say no to HYP. but yes to lower ivies.
