Chances at Ivies + CalTech + MIT

That was the most unwarranted post I have ever read in my life, even if it is in response to a questionable OP.

(Two posts above, I mean.)

yeah that was pretty douch baggey.

I think we're all kind of nerds if we're on this site in the first place haha.

le gasp! I take personal offense at that comment! :D

I agree with CNI. haha

"I might throw in an application for UPenn (slightly close to safety)."

Ummm, take a deep breath. Your gpa is not going to make any ivy level schools a safety. And neither is your arrogance. Since you're so awesome at chemistry you should realize your gpa is roughly equivalent to the gram formula mass of phosphate, and all those schools aren't going to give a pass on this based solely on SATs.

ignore the troll

yeah but he took like 14 AP courses. If that is true, I dont understand your low GPA . Does your school grade differently. In my friend's school a 85 is a A. In your school is like a 80 a A. Whats your rank?

You have unquestionably good test scores, but colleges are beginning to shift away from test scores as a sole indicator of intelligence. They also reconize that a 2400 is all that much better than say a 2250. Your subject tests and APs demonstrate that you are good at many subjects and will probably peform well at college if you apply yourself (be sure to communicate that point in your essays).
Unfortunately there has been a recent trend to downplay test scores and emphasize your activities. Unless you have at least some clubs that you show dedication and passion for, you are not guaranteed for any of the colleges above.
That being said I would be very suprised if you did not get into at least one of your colleges and I will even concede that you stand a decent shot at getting into all of them. I suggest that you do not act as arrogant about your test scores during an interview or on an essay as you have on this board because that will cast you, in the eyes of the admissions officer, as just another kid with good tests. Try and come of as well rounded and concerned with intellectual and everyday topics.

^^

what the hell is everyone's problem? this is a troll. don't feed it

what is a troll? is this jargon for "fake" or something?

thanks for the input TI

This thread kept me entertained for a good five minutes

i dont know how could you have done your SAT 2s during your sittings, must have been more than 3, at least

I'm sorry, but even though your scores are nothing short of stellar, these schools love to reject people like you. Frankly I think they'd take an applicant with good grades in school and average SATs over someone like you who demonstrates little care for in-class academics and lives only for those inane SAT tests. Don't get me wrong, I applaud you for you success and wish you well. But it's very possible that you'll get rejected from all of these schools--seriously.

$#%#ing troll...

Why so harsh on this guy? He's only got 13 posts on here.
Maybe he gets told he's a shoo-in at the Ivies on a daily basis. Many smart kids do.

Definitely apply to safety schools. Maybe ask some people at this forum to choose some for you, since many of the schools you've listed as your "safeties" may not be safe for someone with your GPA.

But they should be overlooked, same with the 83 average.

[/quote]

and why would they do that? out of the kindness of their heart?
They'll look at that your app and think, "wow, what a smart kid... to bad he didn't try in high school," and then trash it.

either tell me my chances or get out of my thread

oh, something about the internet, it's public. If you post here, you invite anybody to say anything (within CC rules) about your post.

I think some of you guys didn't see it, but he said his 83 avg. was unweighted...he said weighted is 90 if that makes any differece

I think he will most likely get into several top schools. The national level achievement on math, physics and chemistry will overcome relative less stellar GPA. No one is perfect.

Ivies = no chance!!

Try for a community college
