Chances at MIT?

MIT is my dream school, but I'm worried that it's too late for some of the opportunities that would have been good on an application...here are my stats:
I'm a junior in high school from the "best" (educationally) school district in my state. I'm white/caucasian, female, from a middle-class family.

Unweighted GPA: 3.6 (Very worried about this)
Class rank: Top 20% of about 500

Standardized Tests: I've taken the ACT (my school emphasizes ACT over the SAT) three times, starting in 9th grade, as part of the able learner program. Without studying. Score currently not fit to be posted.
I'm planning on taking the SAT subject tests in the spring. I'm thinking probably mathematics 1, but I'm not sure which of the sciences.

Despite the large size of my high school, there really aren't very many AP and honors classes. Plus specific science classes aren't available until junior year.
My classes this year:
Wind Ensemble (the more advanced of two band classes)
CORE 4 (Equiv. Pre-calc)
Principles of Physics (changes to Biology second semester)
Spanish 4
AP US History
American Literature and Composition
Fibers

Planned classes for next year (senior year):
Human Anatomy (Honors)
DNA Science & Technology
Principles of Chemistry
Organic & Biochemistry
Mechanics (Honors) or maybe Waves, Sound, & Light (also Honors, haven't decided between the two)
AP English
Spanish 5 (Honors)
AP Calculus BC (Honors)
PE III (required, since I didn't take it last year. Will gym count against me?)
:Still 2 credits left, probably also filled w/ science:

EC's

Awards

To compensate for the lack of AP classes, science and math activities, etc. I started studying/researching these subjects at the beginning of the school year:
French
Biology in general (Genetic Engineering, DNA Science)
Pre-calc and Calculus (Determined to get a 5 on the AP test next year)
Some programming language

So mostly I'm worried about how my standardized tests will turn out. And my GPA. And is there anything I could add to my EC's to increase my chances?
Thanks!

GPA will hurt, assuming this is unweighted.. what is it weighted- and do you think it would be possible for you at the end of your junior year to be in the top 10% of your class? I know it will hurt your application greatly if you aren't at least top 10%. Also, you say ACT is preferred- this makes me assume you're from mid-west. I know MIT definately won't mind some people from your region, which is a little bit of a plus, every thing else looks solid though- What exactly were your ACT scores that you didn't study for?

Yes, I am from the Mid-West.
My score was 23. Twice. cringes I'm really ashamed of it. That was from my sophomore year. I haven't taken it yet this year. I want to get it above 32, at least.
Oh, and my school no longer does weighted grades. My class is the first to not have them.

umm...sry to break it to u but i heard a lot of ppl at mit were valedictorians and had close to perfect sat scores
this girl from my school had 2300 sat, was top 3 in grade, and had lots of awards and leadership and volunteer hrs. but got waitlisted.(got in in end tho)
ur act score is really below par and gpa isnt great either...and ecs arent that great either

Hmm...alright. But I'm not going to give up.
Anyone else have advice?

you arent getting in if you dont raise your act. You better hope to get 30+ or try the SAT, and study as hard as you can

Ok thanks!
How about EC's? Anything missing that I should try to get in?

Anyone?
(Bump)
