Chances at Service Academies

I would just like opinions on whether or not I could receive an appointment to the following(in order of preference):
1) Naval Academy
2) Military Academy
3) Air Force Academy
4) Merchant Marine Academy
5) Coast Guard Academy

I live in Maryland, and will need an eye waiver.

ACADEMIC:
Class Rank: 17/139
HS GPA: 4.05
SAT:
750 Math
670 Critical Reading = 1420
680 Writing = 2100

ATHLETIC:
Football: Will possibly be a captain as a senior. Started at quarterback and defensive back this past year on Varsity team.
Baseball: Will be a captain as a senior. Started at shortsop this past year and hit .470 with a .690 On-base. Team won state championship. Played on varsity last year as a sophomore but did not start.

Would most likely play baseball at academy, possibly football.

Before high school, I played ice hockey competitively. I played for two AAA teams in Pittsburgh and one in DC. I attended the Quebec International Tournament in 2002(a 12-day tournament). I even moved away from home to pursue it while in middle school. After my 9th grade year, I gave it up due to financial and personal reasons. I went out for football in eleventh grade and started(as stated above). I hope that my athletic 'diversity' will help me in getting in.

ECS:
Student Council President
National Honor Society member(will run for leadership pos. next year)
Hi-Y(volunteer group) member
Tutor

Thanks in advance for any input.

All right, since most don't answer unless we're talking about Ivies or similar schools, I'll add the following schools(which I am actually considering):

Cornell
Brown
Penn
Lehigh

Again, thanks.

Thing is, I have no idea about service academies....And the other schools mentioned are pretty competitive and you may lack the ECs....although, in 9th grade, were you on any of the Development teams (like the NTDP team)?

Nope, no NTDP.

Any more opinions?

hey I was looking at the service academies too but I changed my mind and decided that I would rather go ROTC. As far as the academies go I believe turning eveyrthing in as early as possible is a major factor. Your stats seem to match perfectly with the academies because they really look for athletics and leadership. Also I heard doing a summer internship with a politician helps with the required government reccomendation. Btw did you start your application yet and did you apply for the summer semminars (this also helps)? Also I highly reccomend reading Absolutley American, a non-fiction novel that takes an inside look at West Point. Great book and very informative.

Hey man, thanks for the thoughts. Yes, I have started the USNA application already(completely online). About half way through it. Haven't even received the others yet.
