i kno a lot of instate ppl with stats like that that didnt get in so i'm not sure

its a bit of a reach. UMDCP is becoming very competitive, especially for OOS. The GPA may hurt you a bit, but the whole geographical thing may help

also Wellesey

anyone else?

actually if u get a good SAT/ACT score which u already have u should be good. U should get in. MAryland decisions are very random though. I knew a girl with a 4.3 thats was ejected but a girl with a 3.3 gpa and a 1320/2400...yes who got in...so u never know

I think maryland puts a good deal of interest in activities, but moreso when they assign programs. A 31 ACT is really good, congrats. I had a 3.46UW 4.0W and a 1380(which i think is close to a 31 ACT) and got scholars and business scholars. Is the 3.43UW? I think you have a great shot.

yeah, unweighted.

i'm also taking a bunch of college classes.

in that case u should get in then

You have a pretty decent chance of getting in...My high school (we're in Maryland) sends 293084203489238423 people to CP every year, some of them with stats much worse than yours.

^^ LOl. my class is sending 109 this year. thats about 20% of the class.

Well...that's instate and UMCP is a pretty good school to go to anyway.

So how much harder is it for OOS?

............................

I think that you will get in. Your ACT scores are really good, aside from the math. How are your math grades? I bet that your GPA is being pulled down by math. You look like a very strong student, but weak in math. That is somewhat forgiveable. However, look out- many Maryland schools (maybe all) require you to take remedial math courses if you are below a certain level- you pay but your credits do not count. If you still do not pass a competancy test- you have to take it again and try again. Seriously, coworkers' kids have been derailed by this. But, you may be above the level where this is a problem.

Thanks for all of the input! Also, I will probably have great teacher recs and a good essay.

onemom--Bingo. Math=Not a strong point

yanners where are you in MD? we send like a majillion people to UM too, i had no idea that it was competitive out of state!

anyone else?

Just keep your SAT up...im instate and they deferred me. 3.8 uw gpa...eagle scout...v. lacrosse captain...blah, blah. But my SAT was in the toilet (1800)

The same thing happened to somone I know but backwards. Broke 2200 and got deferred to Spring because he had a 2.6 GPA or something.

Ok here is 700+ quick examples of people who applied !

This was ranked top 20 among all high schools last year and it is a school in maryland so the numbers will be different. Maryland puts more emphasis on ECs than other state schools that are similar like PSU. PSU accepted me in 6 days so there is no way they read all the work I put into it because that was right around the priority deadline and everyone else turned it in at the same time. This won't tell you any of their ECs but the stats should help.
