I have a question about admissions to UCB/UCLA. I was wondering how much colleges will take into account my drastic improvement in GPA over the last three years(I am a junior). When I was a freshmen, I ended up with one C and my GPA was 3.2 that year. However, next year I got a 3.75, and junior year so far I have a 4.67. Will that one C and that bad freshmen year destroy my chances?
UCs don’t take freshman year into consideration (they don’t look at it; not sure how to word it). I believe they value a high GPA and no, one C won’t hurt you too bad (it’s freshman year so it doesn’t matter). You have to calculate your UC GPA because non-California honors classes are not weighted; only AP and IB (you’ll see what I mean when you do that). After you find your UC GPAs, compare your test scores and GPA to some sites containing averages/information about admitted students. Do you live in Cali?
Yea
Here is the UC GPA calculator you can use at the end of Junior year to see where you stand.

Upward trends in GPA are look at favorably. Good Luck.
Strong upward GPA trends show that, if you face difficulty, you’ll persevere. That one C will not hurt you at all. If that C was this year (as a Junior), then it would be a different story.
Alright thanks guys. That makes me feel better.
