Hello, I am a current resident of Florida entering my senior year and am thinking that UF is my top choice when applying/deciding on colleges. However, I am kind of concerned with whether or not I would be accepted. I have a 3.9 unweighted/4.6 weighted GPA taking AP/DE classes, 1280 SAT score (which I am studying very hard to bring up, that was my first score), and I am in the top 10% of my class. At the end of this year I will also graduate with my AA. I am not too worried about my grades, but more so the number of my extracurriculars I have participated in. Every year of high school I have danced on a dance team OUTSIDE of school and participated in a mentoring/tutoring program for elementary school kids which I was the president of this past year. Sophmore year I was in key club and this past year I was on the track team. This year I was also accepted into the pre-college program at Emory University in Georgia, but I couldn’t attend because of expenses. I understand my grades are fairly solid, however I am just worried that I haven’t done enough outside of school. I guess I’m just wondering about what my chances might be at getting into UF, and anything I can do over the next few months to better my chances. Thank you so much for reading this insanely long post and any feed back you might have!
I got in with a 3.6 GPA and a 27 ACT. I had really strong extracurriculars and a really good essay in my opinion. Anything is possible in my opinion lol.
@DylanB12 Are you in-state?
When I went to one of the UF Open Houses a few years ago the question of what makes a good EC came. The AO responded that they liked to see an EC that the applicant has stayed with for long time, like all 4 years of HS. It should be one that takes time but also commitment, like dance for example (her words).
She also mentioned they like to see someone who shows the commitment to move into a leadership position, like a club president.
I think you are good on the EC side for UF. There is likely nothing you can do over the next couple of months to improve them other than keep active in them.
