Chances at UIUC?

Hi! I’m hoping to get some advice on UIUC.

live in Illinois and go to a very competitive and rigorous high school
planning to study secondary education in physics
current UW GPA: 3.8
current UW academic GPA: 3.67 (I didn’t do well at all my first semester of freshman year so I’m definitely going to raise this in my senior year)
ACT: currently 29 but I took it again and hope to get up to 30
I took one AP class sophomore year (psychology) and am planning on taking three my senior year (APES, French, and English)
No honors freshman year but two advanced classes (English and history), one honors sophomore year (French), three honors junior year (French, math, and biology), and am going to take one honors audit senior year (astronomy). I have also done orchestra honors each year.
Strong EC’s (a mix of religious activities, community service, school clubs, my job as a teaching assistant which is great for my intended major, and tons of fine arts credits in orchestra, film, and dance). In the clubs I am involved in, I am on each board.

I’m open to any advice I can get! Thanks!

eh you have a chance, but Physics is a pretty challenging major to get in. There is no secondary education major at UIUC, just a minor. (http://catalog.illinois.edu/undergraduate/education/secondary/) The best thing you can probably do is take a Physics classes if your HS offers one, and improve your ACT score, especially math.

I’m a Physics major at UIUC, so if you have any questions about the program feel free to ask!

Here is more info on the program: http://catalog.illinois.edu/undergraduate/las/physics/physics-teaching-concentration/

I don’t know about physics major, but my D had extremely similar stats, HS rep and rigor, GPA, etc. and she breezed into UIUC as a in-state bio major in the early admission cycle.
