Hi, I'm currently a sophomore biology major at Syracuse University. This spring 2006, I will be a junior. I want to transfer to University of Miami (FL) for Fall '06 and wanted to get your opinion on my chance in.
~2.9 GPA
Brother at Sigma Phi Epsilon
Men's Club Lacrosse Team
Asian Students in America
Tutor
I also held down two jobs during my freshman year.
Obviously, GPA is subpar and barring a miracle this semester, it's probably going to ~2.5. I can probably get a decent recommendation from my faculty advisor at my fraternity. Also, if I have a reasonable explanation for my grades, would they allow me to submit that? I don't think Miami has an essay requirement..

Check out this page: http://www.umiami.edu/UMH/CDA/UMH_Main/0,1770,29535-1;29457-2;11803-3,00.html

I think you will find it helpful.

As the page says, and their website reads, the average GPA is over 3.0 (3.3GPA) and if your GPA falls to 2.5, it would be doubtful you would gain admission. Seeing as how you are a junior, I would just try to stick it out at Syracuse; it's not a bad school at all.

AS.

By the way, if you are truly unhappy with SU, there are other colleges which will admit you with just a 2.5GPA, so don't give up hope entirely.
