Chances at University of Michigan after being deferred?

College of Engineering
OOS
4.0 UW GPA (5 APs and 12 Honors classes by end of junior year)
33 ACT (35 E, 33 M, 32 S, 30 R)
Good ECs with 5 leadership positions
Strong essays and recommendations
First gen. college student

bump

You really should get in. UMich deferred so many OOS applicants this year, presumably to weed out those who got into other schools ED/EA. I know people that got into MIT and other top schools this year, and yet were still deferred from UMich.

I’d say you have at least an 80% chance. Probably a lot better :)

Best of luck!

My two nephews were deferred at Michigan. One had a 34 ACT and top of his class, applied to engineering, the other 33 ACT and applied to LAS. They must be deferring a lot of people this year…

you will definitely get in with your grades and test scores

could you please chance me back

There are also a good number of high stat kids at my son’s college prep that also got deferred. I think your stats are very good and you should get in.

@Tman1005 Awesome thanks. You don’t even know how much of a confidence booster your post was lol

@Macmo1 Yeah I was also at the top of my class and even my guidance counselor was surprised I got deferred. If you visit the Michigan Early Action thread in the U-Mich section you’ll see a lot of very high stat kids that got deferred as well.

@collegemom2son Thanks

Did you only get deferred from the College of Engineering or Michigan in general? Because my credentials are similar but I’m applying to LSA with Ross preferred. Starting to get scared…

@scant42 College of Engineering, but I heard it’s more competitive than LSA so you should be fine

My nephews wee deferred altogether, one from engineering and one from LAS.

I’ll assume that means you got accepted haha. Good luck with the Engineering, maybe I’ll see you at orientation.

@scant42 Thanks and best of luck to you too
