a few awards...nothing too spectacular.

Thanks:)

I think they are very high, maybe 65% chance of getting in, nothing's ever certain :-). Congrats on your accomplishments! A lot of people from NC get in every year for some reason. What are your grades like? Looking at your GPA, I'd assume mostly As.

Thanks:) All A's except for 1 semester of AP Eng Lang and 1 semester of AP Eng Lit

Yeah, you definitely have a great chance of getting in. Is Wake your #1 pick?

Duke is actually my first choice, but I was deferred ED:-/ Wake is definitely my 2nd choice though.

Good luck with Duke and Wake, then! I'm no expert, but I think you have a very good shot at both schools.

Thanks! I'd definitely be very happy at both. Both schools have created this perfect balance of social/academic...love it, love it, love it. Can I throw out a question? lol. How is your relationship with professors?

Freakishly awesome. This semester I had four professors, five classes. The first professor I had for ECN 150 (Intro to Econ) and FYS 100 (Role of Government in the Economy). He's a bloody economics genius and we get a long very well. I was at the top of my class in ECN 150 and I think I ranked 4th in both ECN 150 classes he taught last semester. I even got a Dove ice cream bar for this. It was awesome. For FYS 100, I am a news genius so I always nailed the current event quizzes, and I ranked #2 in the class. I think we got along very well because we both love econ and gov't. I'm taking another of his classes again this Spring, the history of American economic development. When I told him I was going to take his class again he warned me about not "overdosing on [last name]". He has a great sense of humor.

The next prof was my Spanish prof, for Intro to Hispanic Lit. We got a long great. We talked a lot sometimes after class or via e-mail and I think we both found each other very interesting. Another prof was my international politics prof, we also got along great. I think primarily because I like politics a lot like him and because I aced all his tests and essays. One day after class I put back a book I was reading on the JFK Assasination (Warren Report) and we talked for a while after class about how I liked the class and about this girl, a hardcore Republican, who tried to indoctrinate the class. Then there's my political theory teacher, we got along fine. We didn't chat much, I think primarily because I didn't find the material entirely thrilling. Hence my B in the class :-(.

But overall, the faculty is top-notch. I assume this is somewhat the case at a lot of colleges, but I'm really happy with the Wake professors.

what is winston salem like? i've only been there briefly once

Eh, most people will say that it is boring as hell. I kind of like it. I've lived here about six years and I don't really know how to describe it. There is definitely fun stuff to do around town, and you might feel the need every once in a while to get away from the town, and travel or go on a ride to other neighboring towns. Speaking as a college student living in Winston-Salem, it's not that bad. There are always places to go, eat, etc. off-campus. PM aspirer22, I think he can describe the town better than me :-). I'm not much help with directions, maps, geography, etc.

Ndbisme, esq.

That's awesome about the professors. I'm so glad to hear that. Pretty cool that I want to major in Econ too. lol. That's one of my biggest concerns with schools I'm applying to, and I'm wicked happy you had so many good things to say about your profs:)

Yeah, they are great. However, I did hear some ugly stories about math teachers, not in terms of personality or amiablity, but in teaching skills (I think Calculus and Stats classes can be very bad). I hear some horror stories about the sciences, but not as much as math. But on the whole, foreign languages, english, political science, economics professors are great.

Very cool. Math I can basically survive on my own, even with a terrible teacher. I did all through middle school...lol. I'm absolutely dying to get in. Duke is def. still my number 1, but Wake Forest is by far number 2. Nothing compares to both these schools to me. If Duke rejects me, Wake is DEFINITELY where I'll be, provided they accept me!

Nice :-). If you want to know more about teachers, check out <a href="http://virtualratings.com/category.asp?cat=3102%5B/url%5D">http://virtualratings.com/category.asp?cat=3102</a> for reviews of Wake teachers. Some are off target, but I think most of the review are positive.

thanks for the link:) Very cool.

No problem. They don't list Duke professors, so I don't know about them.

BTW, typo on the aspirer22, it's aspirer42.

Another fun link: <a href="http://www.wfu.edu/academics/profiles/index.html%5B/url%5D">http://www.wfu.edu/academics/profiles/index.html</a></p>

hey everyone!! i applied to wake RD also and duke is my #1 altho i didn't apply early decision. my sister is a wakie and is graduating this year. i don't know how much that will help me in the admissions process, but i hope maybe it will tip the scales in my favor. good luck to everyone in their pursuit for the dream school acceptance.

Britt:) Duke ED Deferred here. Duke is still my #1 and Wake #2. I saw your stats on the Duke board, and your test scores fall right in their range, so I'd say you have a great shot.
