I'm really quite average on paper, so I'm surprised that I got in. But I am a pretty good writer, which is something that both my letters of recommendation and my essay proved to the admissions staff, so that may have swayed them a bit. I'm also a minority (male and Native American)--that definitely had something to do with it.

Good luck to everyone else. I hope to be seeing you guys next fall. To anyone who gets deferred: you've still got another chance; sometimes the candidates for regular admission aren't so appealing and you may get in after all. To anyone who gets rejected: go to another school and prove yourself during the first semester and transfer in for the second half of the year. If you want it bad enough and are willing to work for it, you will get it.

W&M Class of '09 :)

undecided358- i got a sweatshirt, bumper sticker, lanyard, t-shirt, and waterbottle. am completely broke now but i've got immense pride. williamsburg was so pretty b/c the leaves are changing but it was full of tourists. i swelled w/ pride when i was walkin around w/ my sweatshirt!

Just back from Thanksgiving weekend. Someone asked for my son's stats.....3.9 weighted GPA (4.0 scale, I believe), 1470 SATs, Pres Ski club, VP Harvard Model (3 year member), UN Model, Mock Trial, Mentor, several other ECs/volunteer, lifeguard, 3 varsity sports but not a recruited athlete, hoping to be government major. Despite this, had a tough Freshman year in honors at a parochial high school. We never saw the recommendations but I think his essays were pretty good - definitely true to his experiences and personality.

Does anyone know how much of advantage it is to apply early decision to William and Mary? What percentage of the freshmen class comes from the early decision round? Thanks.

all I can say is that the website sux lol
