Chances for a Freshman Spot?

hey Im applying from Florida OOS. I have a 3.0 GPA have taken math for 4 years, science 4 years, Social science for 4 years, History 4 years etc... everything 4 years lol. My schedule contains a ton of core classes (overall 30 units or so.) I have a never gotten a D or F but i took spanish for 4 years and got a C in every single year for that class. I sent 3 letters of Recc and they were all excellent (my school showed me them cuz they were nice enough to):). My SAT scores are a 1660. I sent an essay about how im a globalized person since I have lived in 5 countries and also I mentioned IUB being a top choice for me. I applied to Economics.

Chances? :D

I sent my app out Dec 27. However transcripts where sent out Feb 19 and they should have my app in review before end of Feb.

I personally think I wont have a problem but what worries me is the timing. Plz chances anyone?

I am not sure how out of state works and how competitive it is but I must tell you that from what I hear IU is basically grades and sats. It sounds like you are very well prepared and should get in but basically they just look at statistics.

You should get in, as long as you only have limited C's. They want to see A's and B's, and limited C's. No D's and F's.

I think this year is more competitive, I think you have a 50/50. Did you take any AP or honors?

50/50 Ouch. I meet all their requirements. By entering class of 2011 they are implementing a new rle were preference is given to applicants with 3.0. were no where close to that date and I already have a 3.0. They also say that by then preference will be given to OOS students with SAT above national average. Im way above national average.

6rings, I have no AP's but i took like near 30 credits all academics here is my list of courses:

English: 4 units
Histor: 3 units
Math: 4 units
Natural Sciences: 4 units
Spanish: 4 units
Psychology: 2 Units
Sociology: 1 units
Contemporary Issues: 1 unit
Economics: 1 unit
Principles of technology: 1 unit
Computer Science: 2 Units
Model United Nations: 4 units
Elective: 4 units
Physical Education: 4 units.

This curriculum is way above IU's requirement.

I know im asking for chances, but am i Crazy when i say i think im getting in?

You saw my course load. I got a 3.1 and a 1660 Sat (1100 V and M)

Well IU looks first at grades, gpa, class rank (percentage wise)- (i.e. top 25%). However you do appear to be on the border. Your SAT math and verbal is basically right at average for IU. You can't look at national averages for SAT and how far above that you are. IU doesn't care about the national average, they care about their average. Because you are on the bubble they may look a little farther into your profile, past gpa, scores, and rank. You took no AP classes, which won't help you. However, if your letters of rec are as good as you say, that will help. Also, the fact that you have lived in 5 countries and you wrote about that is excellent, especially if you wrote a solid essay. I would say even though your academics are only average or slightly above, you should get in. Good luck.

Applying this late is what hurts you. You would have had a much better shot in september!

It's is late, but it's not that late, last year I applied on the day of the deadline.
