Actually –– you have as good of a chance as any. You've got great scores, your independent research is great, and your course load is nice. However, your GPA isn't great and that may be the thing that brings you down, I'm afraid. [If that 'one term' you mention is the thing that brought down your grades, then I think you're fine.] If you think you can write about your relationship with your father, it may be some good material for a powerful essay. You are certainly in the running.

It brought my gpa from a 93 to a 92. I averaged an 85 that term. However, I am hoping to average a 96 next term with 5 a.p's To counteract that.

Um...no Princeton does not. I would say that your rank is acceptable considering the circumstances and the sort of school you go to...it's highly specialized. Obviously they are all reach schools and it'd be prudent to add schools in the middle. All that considered, I'd say you have as good a shot as any very well qualified applicant, 20-25%.

Yea I agree. I am also looking at Cornell and Tufts in terms of matches. Stonybrook and Upitt fro my safeties. Which would make my reaches Harvard, Princeton and Stanford.

Since I have the chances about every other well qualified applicant I am ging to stop focusing on chances and work on my essays and resume to differentiate myself from the competition. Thanks for the advice.

I don't know if Cornell and Tufts are matches, as much as they are more reasonable reaches than HPS. You should consider some more definite matches (and still apply to Tufts and Cornell of course!!!) that would give you good finaid and have strong programs in your areas of interest. Good luck -- you'll do great.

But I need finacial aid and I don't want it to be screwed up cause I applied early and have 30000 in loans. The only school I ahve ever even considered applying ED to is Princeton because of the amazing financial aid although this isn't really possible anymore.
