Chances for a Hispanic in Panama to Ivies/other

<p>Hi, I'm a Hispanic male born in Boston (US Citizen, so I'm not really an international) but I've spent my life in Colombia, US, England, Venezuela, and Panama. I spent 9th grade in Venezuela and 10-12 in Panama (I'm putting this because some schools like Yale ask me where I've been throughout my life). I'm going to be a senior this year, hopefully you can have some feedback as to where I should apply. If you think I'm shooting too high please tell me. :)</p>

Class Rank: Top 10% (1 or 2 out of 58)
Weighted: Took 6 IB classes + .5 year TOK in 11th, weighted GPA was 4.85 last year
IB: project to get in the 36-42 range. my guess is 40, but I don't have my predicted scores yet.</p>

<p>Course Load: Most Rigorous (IB Diploma... Math, Biology, Chemistry, English A1 Higher Level, Psych and Spanish A2 SL)</p>

School based academic awards: achievement award in 9th grade in Drama Tech, IB French II, English 9, Integrated Science 9, Math 2, Ancient Civilizations, outstanding contribution to fine arts, science-in-society, guidance groups. in 10th grade: achievement in History, PE, Physics, Chemistry. in 11th Grade: Achievement in IB HL chemistry/math/biology, devoted to learning award (given to the one student in each grade who seeks out learning "for its own sake"). On High Honor Roll in Venezuela, now on Director's List (I think the highest award given out to 9th-11th graders at my school... 4 people were on it in my grade last semester)</p>

<p>MUN: 9 MUNs in HS career, in Venezuela, Panama, the UN GA in NY, THIMUN, Beijing. Was co-chair of the disarmament committee in 9th grade for a junior MUN, was head chair of the ECOSOC committee in 11th grade for school-based conference, will be the Secretary-General of this year's PANAMUN conference. (THIMUN-affiliated conference. have to contact visiting schools regarding the conference while serving as its figurehead so to speak, manage budget for the conference, purchase materials, serve as the MC of the opening/closing ceremonies, direct the 26 officers regarding chairing and press, etc. we expect up to 450 people in the conference from 25 visiting schools, mainly from Central America but also from Europe and the US/South America)</p>

<p>Student Government: Guidance Representative for Advisory Grade 9, High School Treasurer Grade 11</p>

<p>Theater: Experience in backstage from Drama Tech class in Grade 9, was the Chamberlain in the Conference of the Birds in Grade 9, Captain von Trapp in the Sound of Music Grade 10. couldn't participate this year due to my trip to Beijing :(</p>

<p>Community Service: upwards of 200 hours, everything from working on a farm for a week to translating for the Flying Doctors of America mission/Rotary Club, serving as a volunteer for a camp for students with learning disabilities (my brother is autistic), other, smaller volunteering opportunities. </p>

<p>Haiti: Started up a fund-raising program for Haiti earthquake relief... got 4,700 dollars for Partners in Health, hopefully next year we can get some material donations (CAS project)</p>

<p>Knowledge Bowl: co-captain. traveled to El Salvador for AASCA Knowledge Bowl in 11th Grade (we couldn't go in 10th), hopefully will go again this year as captain.</p>

<p>Summer Program: Went to the University of Toronto Youth Summer Program for 4 weeks... Medical Program, last summer.</p>
