chances for a mediocre applicant

Great, I think. He said that if I can talk intelligently about the books we discussed (the latter half of the interview was almost entirely occupied by our back-and-forth exegeses of postmodern and modern lit.), then he would have no qualms with my admittance to NCF. He told me that my GPA would NOT by any means preclude my acceptance. He also said that he's going to present my file to "The Committee" this Friday and would tell me their response/decision. Commence anxiety. I really hope they like my essays and recs.
Also, I was surprised to find that he was far more relaxed, genuine, and earnest than any other admissions officer I've spoken with. I'm very impressed. If I get in, I'm definitely going.

It sounds like it went very well for you! My younger D got her phone call last week telling her she was accepted (the letter came a few days later). It was nice they started making decisions early this year, last year her sister didn't hear until early January.

Good luck!

Seriously??? Wow, when did she apply? Your daughter must have been high-priority. Hope I hear soon. Congrats to her!!!

i got into new college today!!!! wooooo i was so surprised to hear this early.

Congrats skreenname! I think it's great they're giving decisions earlier this year.

mtngoat1-She applied back in October and her sister is a first year there. She also had a pretty strong application and let them know of her interest in NCF. Hopefully you will get good news soon!

Skreenname, how did you hear? Phone?

I'm not going to be able to get much sleep until I hear...

Were you told how you would hear? Are you expecting a phone call after the committee meets on Friday?

Yes, the admissions rep said he would call me after The Committee Meeting on Friday to tell me the result.

Very exciting; keep us posted!

Hey skreenname, when did you submit your application?

hi. i'm from new york, and i've just heard about the new school and i'm thinking about applying. however, i am very involved with filmmaking. does this school have a program, or the ability to allow me to create one? also can someone give me a general sense of the school? thanks so much!

Hope you aren't confusing New College of Florida with New School in NY!

My D was a film major in high school and is making a film for her ISP (independent study project done in January). They do not have a film program, but they do have some mediocore equipment. Beyond that, she really loves the school. She'll be back for winter break soon and if you have some specific questions, I can have her answer them.

got an email a few minutes ago.

I'M IN!!!!!! woooooo

Congratulations!!!

Congratulations! Be sure to let us know if you qualified for any merit money or if you're going to enroll! Once again, congrats!

Thanks! I'm going to enroll, I think, unless by some whim of fate I am accepted by Bard or Oberlin and get some sort of aid (very highly unlikely, in fact, almost impossible). I'm excited/relieved/exasperated.

Congratulations mtngoat1!!! My daughter that goes to NCF just arrived home, so if you have any questions for her, now's the time!
