So right now my past is biting me in the ass, because i didn’t try in 9th grade and 1st semester of 10th grade my GPA isn’t a 4 (I had two B’s, both English), my class rank is low, and i lack AP classes.
Now for the bright side: I am taking the ACT and have reasonable hopes for at least a 34 (scored a 33+ on all 5 practice tests), and I am only a junior so I may take it a couple more times, i received an 800 in Math II and will look towards another high score on the physics subject test, I have joined multiple clubs that actually apply to what I want in my future (math team, future bus. leaders, etc.) and I founded and am president of a chess club at my school which consists of over 40 members, I will be joining the golf team in spring, and I have committed 75 community service hours on my own time (it was not for beta club).
Currently… I am only in one AP this year (it’s my first, and I know my AP classes are my weakest link) but I will take AP Chem, Calc BC, and Physics C next year. My grades last semester averaged a 99.4% unweighted and it was in gifted math, chemistry, and english.
So, what are my chances to get into a top engineering school? I live in Georgia and so GA Tech is obviously a big goal especially because without a scholarship my chances (finacially) of attending an out of state school is low, and the next choice in GA is Mercer (Tech is the #3 engineering school and Mercer is the #220ish, so it’s a drastic drop). Thanks
