Chances for an Early Decider

<p>So I'll be applying ED for Hopkins soon and I'd like to know what my chances are. </p>

SAT Critical Reading: 670
SAT Math: 610
SAT Writing: 740
SAT II Literature: 670
SAT II U.S. History: 620
SAT II Math 1: 610
Class Rank: Somewhere below 20%, school doesn't officially rank
AP Literature and Composition: 5
US U.S. History: 3</p>

<p>Extracurricular:
Rugby (1 Year)
Indoor and Outdoor Track (2 Years)
National Honors Society (2 Years)
New York Science Honors Society (2 Years)
Junior R.O.T.C. (3 Years)
Writer, "Science Journal", section of School Newspaper (2 years)
Community Service: 100 hours
- Tutored children at local school
- Maintenance work at local parish
- Volunteer at Weill Cornell Med. Center (most hours come from here)
- Throughout whole of Junior year, worked as intern at a small business 20 hours/week (paid)
- Worked as an umpire for local baseball league (1 Year)</p>

<p>Strength of schedule has gotten increasingly better over years as more APs have become available.</p>

<p>My essays are great, as I'm an exceptional writer (coming from a fairly humble person XD)</p>

<p>Not that I'm basing my decision to apply ED off of your guys opinions, but I'm a curious man, and would love to here your thoughts.</p>

<p>Yeah, weak scores in everything except writing, the least important one… also, your GPA/Class rank… If your strength truly does lie in writing, (I’ll assume that the 60 points you lost were due to multiple choice questions, not your essay), then you certainly have an advantage. Keep in mind, though, every one I’ve talked to regarding the essay says that it can break you, or put a borderline candidate over the top- it’s no king maker.

<p>it’s good that you have a strong schedule and many strong activities. Your scores are not great, but they aren’t horrible. I say just emphasize your strengths and give a good go at the essay! Good luck!</p>
