Chances for Brown, USC, etc--will chance back!

Hi! I'm applying for a combined major in political sciences/film/communications, and I'm wondering:
1. What my chances are for Brown, RISD, University of Southern Californa, GW, Emerson, and UChicago
2. If anyone can recommend schools that are good in film/communcations/politics...I'm so scared that I'll find the perfect school right after its applications are due!

So, here goes:
Class rank: Whole school county doesn't rank.
GPA: 4.01....weighted...:'(

SAT: 2100, but I'm retaking in the fall.
SAT II: 700 US History, 720 Lit, 730 World History

AP: World:5, USH:5, European History:5 (never took the class), Art history: 4 (never took the class,) Envronmental Science: 4 (never took the class), Spanish: 3..haha. I also took AP English Lang, but I missed both test dates so I'm hoping my Lit SAT II score will somewhat make up for that.

This year I'll be taking a Chinese class at my local community college, as well as AP English Lit, AP Statistics, AP Gov (my school doesn't offer comparative:'(), AP Human Geography, Creative Writing, and a film production course.

Extracurriculars:

Politics:
I started a club against animal cruelty my freshman year and have been president since then.
I also am VP of a public speaking organization and have gotten a communication award from it.
Model UN...but only member, no leadership.

Film:
President of Film Club.
A film of mine went to states for a competition and I'll be doing more competitions coming up.
I interned at a film company after my sophomore year.
I have a paid job filming events throughout the county, and it's run through my school.
I'm about to train to be a TV Producer at my city's local news channel.
I also have a job at a movie theater.

Edu.:
I tutor, helped set up a tutoring alliance between my high school and a local elementary school, was a counselor in training at a summer camp after fresh year, and now am a paid counselor at an enrichment camp after junior year.

I also went to my state's summer governor's school, where I took a film class and a politics class.

Sports:
Cross Country Freshman, Sophomore, Junior (and maybe) Senior year. Won Girls Leadership Award my sophomore year. Winter track freshman and sophomore year spring track freshman year. (Should I even include track in my apps? It was a lot of time and I quit because there was a lot of bullying and cattiness on the team and I didn't like the atmosphere...but I can hardly put that in my application.)

And I may have a job at Starbuck's in a week or so.

After answering others I guess I need to put in a basic info:
White female, single parent income, ~70,000 without tax adjustment.

Thanks!!

My word, you seem to have a lot of jobs! I don’t know much about film/politics/communications schools, but I think that you are a pretty competitive applicant for the schools that you have already listed, especially if you raise your SAT score. Your GPA is a tad low, however. Does your school report both weighted and unweighted scores? I think that you can really improve your chances by writing awesome essays, especially for UChicago. Good luck!

And thanks for chancing me!

NYU has a terrific film department, besides that, I’d stick to California.

You have a lot of leadership positions and even started a club which is VERY good. You have good SAT scores but I think they are a bit low for Brown. I believe USC, GW, and UChicago you have a very good shot of getting into. I don’t know much about Emerson or RISD but Brown will be a bit of a reach for you. Don’t be discouraged though! a good essay and the fact you come from a single-parent home can be good!

Overall, you’re in great shape. The GPA is great and your film background is amazing also. Brown may be a reach, but NYU and USC are matches in my perspective for the most part! Also, the ECs are good. Good luck!

Chance me back?: Chance me for University of Rochester? I’ll Chance back

GW could be a match
Brown and Chicago are reaches for almost anyone
However, your ECs and tests scores put you in a competitive position. Best of luck!

Brown-low/mid reach
RISD-high match
University of Southern Californa-match
GW-not sure
Emerson-low match/safety
UChicago-high match

Have you looked in to NYU?

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1538369-chance-average-student-ill-chance-back.html

For film, you NEED to look into NYU, and they have a school designed for designing your own major which would work in your case because you could put all of those together and decide your courses. You have a lot of ECs which is important. It seems like your choices are good for your course load… I don’t know much about film in particular (besides that NYU is an amazing film school), but it seems like you should look into a school with a really good art department. Have you looked into Colombia, U Cal LA, Northwestern? I know a friend who is going to School of Visual Arts in new york for film, but that wouldn’t satisfy politics…Also maybe Parsons/New School?

chance back?
