Like many others on this board, Michigan is my number 1 school and I am anxiously awaiting my EA decision. I have heard that the school of Kinesiology at U of M is both harder and easier, depending on who I ask, to get into than LSA. I have a 3.76 W/3.62 UW GPA taking 5 AP classes (we do not offer that many) at an extremely rigorous In-State school that has a very good relationship with Michigan. I have a 30 on my ACT with great subscores in Math and Science, which are most important to Kinesiology. I have had numerous leadership positions throughout my many extracurriculars, and have glowing recommendations from my teachers. I went on a week-long mission trip this summer and have plenty of volunteer service hours. I also have a demonstrated interest in Kinesiology from my high school courses, which is something the program looks at very strongly. My essays are top-notch, but I'm wondering if my GPA will destroy my application. I would love feedback.

I know a student who had the same GPA & 31 ACT & similar EC’s and applied EA to School of Kines. Did not get accepted. She’s now at MSU Honors College (& enjoying it). I think Kines has become an popular pre-med track so competition is high. Good Luck!

The acceptance rate may be lower but I think it’s a lot of self selection or whatever the term is. It could be harder to get inti than LSA though, idk

I would not recommend applying to Kinesiology because you think it is easier (I’m not sure if it is) but it looks like you had other reasons for doing so.

I would consider you a reach for U-M because of the GPA but not a huge reach. Where you go to high school may help if you go to one of the major in-state feeder schools.
