@Ivydreamst Good is a hard term to understand without any context. What do you mean by “good” in this case?
@SuperAzn69 can you please stop spamming the whole Cwru forum with your negative opinions. You are really hurting yourself and the school. You are affecting CWRU’s recruitment. If other people see your posts, they may not be applying and enrolling at case. In reality, case is really not that bad. It’s decent and it’s definitely better than OSU or Purdue.
@Ivydreamst Why is it when I have a negative opinion about Case people call it spamming? What about all those parents that write their kids enjoy CWRU so much? Why don’t you call that “spamming?” Aren’t they “spamming” the forums to tell people that Case is so good when they’ve never attended the universities? Am I really impacting their recruitment? I’m just here to provide a balanced viewpoint to what others think. If Case isn’t that bad, how come its undergraduate and graduate engineering programs ranked lower than Purdue and OSU? Why do they have a lower peer reputation compared to those two? Also, if its not really that bad, why’d you want to leave for a better school? Isn’t Case decent enough?
Its spamming because you are saying something negative in each of the top 10 posts.
Do you go to all the other college subboards and say how they are not special because “anyone can get in” and “the classes are not special”
Well, I’m telling the people my opinions, which happen to be more negative. Why is it not okay to share my opinion on Case being not so special?
@SuperAzn69 Maybe you should transfer to somewhere else. I know if my daughter was having issues like you, I would want her to go somewhere else.Life is too short to be at a college that does not work for you. Of course, my daughter loves CWRU - but clearly you do not. With the amount of time you are spending spamming on this list you could complete some applications.
I actually am transferring and I have spent time with my applications. Once again, I don’t know why you call sharing my opinions spamming. If someone were to post in various threads sharing their positive experience, it’d be normal? Wouldn’t that also be spamming?
@SuperAzn69 SUGGESTION for you: Take graduate classes at Case Western, and work HARDER. The fact that you rant on College Confidential against your own school is a bit sad. . Transfer if you hate your life there, but another option is to TRY HARDER , take harder classes, get a research project, publish a paper, row crew, play soccer, or join an art club, listen to the Cleveland Orchestra, take in a theatre play downtown, pick applies in the orchards around Case or do some service work in East Cleveland.
What are you doing with your time? What is your major? Are you doing a senior thesis? Who are you doing that with? What is your plan post graduation? What summer job do you have lined up this summer? Have you looked into the co op program at Case Western? Are you going to study abroad? Can you take music lessons with Cleveland Institute of Music professors, I know some Case students who do that. Have you tried walking on to a division 3 sports team?
Have you gone on any dates? Try that too. Live a little !!
I went to an east coast private school, very high rank, and compared my homework sets in physics to my son’s at Case and the work is the same. Case is a very high level of academics, in the sciences, humanities, music, accounting, engineering and nursing. Case students do really well in their graduate programs, because Case prepares students for grad school and the world at large.
@SuperAzn69 How about Phi Beta Kappa? Are you on track to get nominated? Get busy. If you are an engineer,
you can try for another honor society. Those will help you get jobs for the rest of your life, and good for you. If you are in science, humanities, music or social sciences, you can try for Phi Beta Kappa. A few very top Case Western students make it as juniors. How about you? You worry about others, instead of yourself. Focus down harder on yourself, and you will find that you are happy in Cleveland. Its a great down. Try taking the Healthline Bus to Lake Erie
and take it in. Lake Erie is cool. Hang, and get to know Cleveland if nothing else.
I’ve been busy with my studies and 4.0ed last semester, and I’m on track to hopefully get a 3.7 or maybe a 4.0 this semester. Since coming to Case, I have learned a lot more about myself and my position in life. Right now, I’m not at the position at which I feel neither successful nor happy. Not everyone is happy here, and a majority of top students here transfer because they realize Case doesn’t provide enough opportunities academically and socially. A lot of them went to Brown, Vanderbilt, Penn, Chicago, Cornell, and Hopkins. Phi Beta Kappas are at almost every school, which means that if you can do well anywhere and be the top student at any state school in the country, you could go anywhere. I felt Case hasn’t provided the expectations that I had hoped and has not lived up to what people have said about it.
A lot of the students who has the stat to transfer to Brown, Vanderbilt, Penn, Chicago, Cornell and Hopkins, initially decided to go to Case, it seems that Case has accepted high stat students.
IMO, I feel that you are spamming because your "opinions’ are not to be trusted. Not only you created an account to go to every thread to trash Case, your comments on “Case isn’t too hard of a school to get into”
BTW, have you decided whether you are a freshman or a sophomore at Case?
Actually, a lot of therm were international students whose best school they got into freshman year was Case and many were not satisfied with getting into Case. Those students didn’t have the highest scores the first time around, but they realized they had no potential or opportunities at Case, so many worked hard to transfer.
My opinions are much more to be trusted since I’m currently a sophomore at Case. Many people who post on threads are parents of Case students, so they are just relaying information from their children. Case is definitely not for everyone, and it certainly isn’t for me. In terms of the acceptance rate, it’s 35%, but consider that many overqualified kids are rejected or waitlisted since many apply to Case as a safety. I’ve noticed many Case students who I’m here with received around lower to mid 30 superscore, and many have 3.75-3.8’s above. So, if you’re within the ballpark, you’d have a decent chance to get in, so all you have to do is to show interest then.
Okay, the post for today is
on November 16, it was
Given their experience at Case helped them to transfer to
I have to assume Case is not bad.

Given all the spamming you did, your word certainly cannot not be trusted. I am not interested on why you decide to “suffer” another year at Case and that you were not smart enough to make the decision to transfer to Brown, Vanderbilt, Penn, Chicago, Cornell, and Hopkins at the end of your freshman year.
Case was bad for many of them. It was subpar for them. Only the smart ones leave
Just pointing out that CWRU freshman retention rate is 94% according to collegefactual.com.
I’m done. Anyone with a screen name of “SuperAzn69” has to be … well, yeah. Probably the guy who thought he could play basketball on the CWRU team just because he thought he was good at basketball or the one who wanted a “Western” girlfriend. Good luck, SuperAzn69. Where ever you end up, I’m sure there will be a whole lot of other “SuperAsians.”
For the record, I am a UC Berkeley alumna. My daughter was over the moon, that I did not insist she attend even though we live 15 minutes from campus. It just wasn’t her thing. Too many people, too much grade grubbing, and not enough learning, savoring - this is a big picture description. We live in San Francisco - great location, great schools, lots of things to do, diverse, great food. Yet my daughter chose CWRU, not because it was the “best” school she could get into - because she felt like it was a good fit, a challenge for her major, and because she felt like she could grow - yes in all places, Cleveland.
Well said @wildcatmom16
And we were surprised at how cool Cleveland is, but looks like word is getting out… . I just saw it was named to list of top places to visit this year by National Geographic- only one of three US locations on the list: http://www.cleveland.com/travel/index.ssf/2017/11/cleveland_named_to_national_ge.html
@SuperAzn69: “Case was bad for many of them. . . . . Only the smart ones leave.”
But you are still there? So . . . .
