I posted a while back ago when I was still living in Philadelphia. Now I'm attending a Community College in San Diego finishing off my 60 units. I used to be an international student but since I got married to a US citizen last year and received my greencard I am now a California resident. So here are my stats:

-GPA after 63 units will most likely be 3.95 with 27 units coming from California Community Colleges and the rest from Philadelphia
- I have completed Macro and Microecon, Accounting 1 and 2, Statistics 1 and 2 (all courses completed w/ an A)
- Calc 1 is in progress (probably an A) and until the end of next spring semester I will have Calc 2 and all the other requirements completed)
- I have all A's except for Engl Composition where I got a B
- I interned 6 months in Philly before going to school plus I started to work full-time once I got to San Diego in August 2004
- some workexperience in Germany plus I was taking over my dad's family run marketing agency
- leadership position in Germany playing ice -hockey for 15 years
- joined Phi Theta Kappa (haven 't been involved really though)
- no real other EC's
- I'm fluent in English, German and speak Spanish
- it took me a total of 3.5 years to finish CC, due to working and moving
- I'm now 24 years old

I'd like to get into the BizEcon or Econ major at UCLA or UCB respectively. 3rd option would be UCSD management science.

I'd be so glad for any kind of input, since I'm really getting nervous as November 30 approaches...

a 3.2 friend from cali is different from a 3.9 outa state. but you, max99, look like a strong applicant. your foreign languages [major plus] and ECs will strengthen your application even more. i don't see how berkeley could reject you.

when you say "a 3.9 outa state" do you mean Berkeley won't consider me in-state because I have taken less than 30 credits at California CC's? about my EC's, you think the work experience will be enough?
thanks for the input so far..

Econ is one of the most impacted majors at Berkeley and LA, your GPA is very impressive but if you're considered out of state it needs to be. Strong essays can only help you and set you apart from people with similar stats to yours.

that's what my plan is, I could take 3 during wintersession and 17 credits for spring giving me 30 instate credits. But all these remaining units I would have to indicate as "planned". So how will that work out? They won't be able to check if I have actually completed the 30 credits before admitting me, right?

I actually registered 20 credits for next semester (including winter session) . So I will have 30 credits completed and hopefully be considered in state CC transfer. By the end of spring semester I will have all my major preps and some more. Shouldn't that give my a decent chance at either UCLA and/or UCB?

currently, i am a sophomore at university of washington and i am a resident of california. my gpa as of now is 3.92 and i took macro/micro econ and calc 1 and got 4.0 in each of the classes and i have only completed 1 writing/english class and got a 3.9. anybody know my chances of transfering to ucla as a bus econ major?

Uojee, you have a good chance at UCLA. I would take another English though.

Maxx, Your GPA is very very impressive, and the fact that you got A's in all your prere. is awesome. Personally, not speaking out of expertise or anything, I think you have a great chance of getting in, as long as your statements are superb (i bet you hear that over and over). I think you'll get in.

yeah you're right...I'm kind of scared whenever I hear this. What's superb? I've finished the 2 short ones and I think they are decent and honest, but I'm not sure if they are really great. Maybe someone can read them when I've finalized them.
