Chances For Fin Aid

Hi everyone. I would like to ask about my chances of getting into university. I am an int student. I have SAT(1900 points) I also have 2 SAT II with above 670. My GPA is around 4.00. I can pay up to 25000$ per year. I also have a good record of extracurricular activities. My recommendations are good. What are my chances of receiving financial aid(the full tuition is 54000$) and getting into university ?

With USD 25,000 each year, there are a number of place where you can study here. University of Minnesota at Morris, was less than that a year ago.

Run the college-matching search engines to identify places where out-of-state tuition and fees are USD 15, 000 or less, and then check the estimated Cost of Attendance (COA) for international students. You may find something that you like and can afford.

What are my chances of receiving financial aid(the full tuition is 54000$) and getting into university ?

It’s hard to know. Few schools give much aid to int’ls. Usually you need higher stats for the schools that give int’ls aid.

Plus, if your family can pay $25k, then it’s likely that the colleges that would give you aid would expect your family to pay more than $25k.

You’re better off trying to find schools that only cost about $25k per year. Or find a few schools that cost about $30-35k and will give you the difference in merit scholarships.

it’s unlikely that you’re going to get $30k in aid with a 1900 SAT and a family that can pay $25k.

What is your Math + CR score?

What is your major?

Well I have 700 math and 570 CR, which is low I know, but I have already chosen universities/colleges and most of them are with taxes 50k. I plan to apply through the ED in Grinnell. I want to study finance and economic.

Have your parents run the NPC calculators on the website. I don’t know if there’s an int’l option on those. If not, then if there are anything like loans or work study on them, assume that you can’t get those…those are usually federal grants…not for int’ls.

I think it’s a mistake to only have pricey schools on your list when your family can’t pay for them.

You have a 1270 M+CR…that’s lowish for the schools that give aid to int’ls. What country are you from?

Country in Eastern Europe, but how many int are going to be able to pay so much?

The fact remains that most int’ls that do come to the US for undergrad do pay full or near full price. There are milions of college-aged int’ls out there. Only a smallish number need to be able to afford to pay that much…and there are enough out there. The US doesn’t have THAT MANY seats for int’ls in their colleges.

Your premise kind of assumes that most int’ls that want to go to school here end up being able to do so. In truth, it’s usually only the ones whose families can pay end up being able to do so. Only a tiny number of int’ls actually get needed aid to go to school here.
