O'Brien, at this stage, all talk about the 2007 Freshman class is speculative. It just seems that Michigan is "hot" at the moment. It's yield rate has gone from 40% to 45%, which explains why our 2004 and 2005 classes were 500 students larger than expected. Michigan's applicant pool has gone from 21,000 to 26,000 in 3 years, which explains why Michigan's acceptance rate dropped from 62% to 47% in just 2 years. Michigan's mean SAT didn't just inprove a little. Most schools saw a 10-20 point improvement. Michigan improved by 50 points, from 1330 to 1380.

Does that mean Michigan is going to see another similar leap this year? Most likely not. However, a 20-30 point inprovement this year is very possible, assuming Michigan's applicant pool continues to grow at a rate of 10%+ (as it has each of the last 3 years) and if Michigan's yield persists. Personally, I see Michigan's acceptance rate dropping from this year's 47% mark to around 43% this year. I do not foresee much of a change in the SAT ranges or top 10% class rankings.

I predict the mean SAT to be 1400 exactly this year. Average GPA 3.8.

Michigan states that the middle 50% for the class of 2006 by ACT scores is 27-31, which, I think, is what is was in prior years, and which translates to more like a 1300 mean SAT. Is there an ACT SAT discrepency?

The ACT and SAT are impossible to compare. Any attempt at tralsating one score into the other doesn't work.

wait a second...that makes my umich gpa a 3.8.....
that doesnt seem to correlate with my cum gpa of 3.3

It seems like most people from Michigan take the ACT, while most out of staters take the SAT. As we all know, instate admissions are, to an extent, less competive than out of state admissions. This could account for the discrepancy.

okay i got my new SAT scores

CR: 690 M: 620 W: 700
This comes to 2010. I know i did well on writing but will that really help me?

As far as I know, Michigan does not really look at the W section.

damn. so the new scores wont really make a difference.
