That's it D'yer Maker, you've been had!

I visited Hotchkiss. Sorry to say, their pool blows aways St.georges. It's exactly like the pool at wilton (50m), except, 10 lanes, extra wide so you can do butterfly up and down the pool without crashing into someone. Also, there's a diving well too. St georges is only a 8 lane 25yard pool. I visited St. george's pool and it's almost the same thing as exeter. Actually exeter had a bigger but dirtier locker room.

Ahh, all of these must be taken into account!!

I'd also like to add Lawrenceville to my school list.
Chances??

I've heard Lawrencevill is a great school! it's really cool you guys like swimming so much. i liked it just fine until i was forced to join a team and just felt so ridiculous. the suit makes me feel so stupid and i never feel like i can breathe. I'm more into ballet, i can't imagine life without it! haha.

I have 8+ race suits and 3 drag suits...
Ones zebra print :)

i've got a leotard with criss-crossing straps in the back!!!! hahaha. my teacher would personally rip my head off if i came in with a zebra skin striped suit. we wear pink tights and black leotards and hair in uncomfortable buns, if we even consider getting a different color leotard then you can expect your grade to go down at least one letter grade. fun fun fun. i think i might have liked swimming, but i just get embarassed so easily and didn't like the individual competitiveness of it. I like team competitiveness (like basketball and soccer) but when everything depeneds on just you...i don't think i can handle that.

You called...?

I have 6 racing suits, 1 fastskin, nearly 10 practice suits, a bunch of drags, sadly only 4 goggles, no legskin or briefs

ugh, i hate goggles! i could never see and they hurt my face. what schools are you applying to hercules?

I thought I posted my schools earlier but...

Code SchoolName
5758 Phillips Academy
5068 Middlesex School
3598 Groton School
5098 Milton Academy
6730 St. Mark's School
2770 Deerfield Academy
6460 St. George's School
6886 St. Paul's School
5764 Phillips Exeter Academy
4012 Hotchkiss School

Those are the schools I'm sending my SSAT scores too.
St. Mark's is my safety because I'm almost certain I'll make it into the school, but I don't fancy the school much since it has no swim team. My sister is one of the top students there so I have some hooks there.

The schools I really want to go and actually apply to is Exeter, Andover, St. Georges, Deerfield, Milton, and Middlesex. (it that order)
Surprisingly Middlesex is on the list even though it has no swim team. The Students there was so affable, the lectures were so intriguing, and I heard they had a strong sports program because all the coaches were teachers so you get a strong relationship.

PS... Swim goggles are your best friend if you swim, you just have to pick the right kind. I fancy speedo Vanquishers (mirrored version) because they are watertight and really comfortable. Then speedo speed sockets because they have great vision and comfortable (not as comfy as vanquishers) .

I feel self-concious when others in my heat can see my eyes :) I like mirrored as well. If I swam without goggles I would skulk away at the first sign of chlorine and cringe at the thought of the 500m free.

See you at St. George's, Herculez :)

hey hercules! i'm also applying to andover, exeter, and st. pauls. i thought exeter was kind of intimidating when i went to see it. what did you think?

I'm re-taking the SSATs in jan. Is anyone else??
I got 82 overall the 1st time but I want to break 90 this go-around. Tips?

Exeter, I personally love that school. It was intimidating because everyone is so deft and talented at that school. I swam at their pool last year for a swim meet and thought they were very talented because the records were overwhelming. 57 sec in a 100 breaststroke =O. yeah. I like challenges. But i dislike many schools because of their dress code. I guess it's overlooked by most people but I don't know how I would feel in pants, dress shirt (tucked in!), tie, shoes, and not able to get a mohawk everyday to school. I sat in one of their classes, and that's exactly why I liked Exeter. The classes kept everyone awake and gave out a lot of info, nothing like my banal classes at my school. Andover is great but the classes are like lectures, i guess you learn a lot. Middlesex had teaching thing similar to Exeter. Actually Middlesex classes were funner because the teachers let me participate in their daily activities like pictograph in Spanish =] I never got a tour of St. Pauls besides the time my sister went their. All I know is that St. Paul's has a good reputation and an insanely big campus. How would you get from one end of campus to another within 1 hour? What I'm perplexed about is that St. Paul has a state of the art pool (6 lanes- At least it's bigger than my 4 lane pool), but they don't even have a swim team. I heard is that they don't have a swim team because the team would draw to many students away from other sports or too little to the swim team.

St. georges is a great school. I don't think it's as prestige as Exeter but that's were I can shine. The campus is the prettiest thing i seen. It's like a castle with new art studio, pool, and a couple of fields (some are worn down last time i visited). I can surf after school (hopefully they let me) because the beach is down the beach. The best restaurants are right down the road, actually a mile down the road. But the problem is that for every game, I'd have to sit on the bus for hours because the schools are often min MA, which stinks.

Cricket... Go for the 99%. That's my goal, hopefully I make it, but...yeah, you get the point. Like in swimming, I have this insane goal that I never make but get so ambitious to get to the goal that I train my hardest.

tips... I didn't do that well on the test but, got some new weapons under my belt this time.

I take a practice essay EVERYDAY (starting yesterday.lol) Until the day before the test. That WILL make your essay better because you write much more. Allot 25 min every day to write it.
Vocab...Learn the roots of words, use flash cards, carry them around everywhere, like on car rides to swim practice, or during pointless classes at school like computer class.
Math.I have no trouble with this, but I have no Idea how i got such a low score on the ssat. just practice, drop the calculator, unless your in a hurry to get homework done at 12pm.
Reading...read 1 newspaper article at nytimes.com everyday. While reading, break down paragraphs, find the main ideas of the group of paragraphs, and figure out the attitude of the writer.
Also, for more writing, write longer responses for english or any other homework if you have time. Not only do you practice writing, you impress your teachers =]. Use the vivid vocabulary words you learned in the writing too.
Remember, sleep!!! Sleep is so important. hope this helps.

oh yea, I'm retaking my test next weekend, December 8th.

i'm taking the test on december 8th too and am freaking out. for the practice test i got 748 for reading 779 for vocab and 731 for math. ay idea what percentile i'm in? (i'm in 8th grade, if that helps) i know my math score is kinda low but i'm working on it. :)

779 in vocab. would be in the very high 90%. That's nearly a perfect (800)!!
731 is around the mid 80%
748 is around the middle 90%.

That's awesome, higher than me, except in math. good luck!

ps. don't freak out. I don't think it helps because i freaked out on my first test (how couldn't i? plus i had hypothermia) and did terrible, even though i thought i did ok.

I'm taking it Jan 12. Will the schools still accept my scores?
