I don't know. That's why i signed up for my test on the 8th. I'm sure they would look at them, but it's untimely. They wouldn't ignore the new scores, after all, you applied to their school and sent scores to them for a reason.

I'm nervous, as well, because I only have 1 honors course out of a possible 3. The courses I do not have honors in, I'm getting A's.
Will schools look down upon the fact that I'm not in honors courses but still achieve great grades?

i don't have honors classes either. My school doesn't have honors for middle schoolers, the only subject we can go higher in is math, which i have.

I'm not sure if schools will look down at you, that's the reason for the SSAT i guess. Some schools are "better" than others so the ssat will be an aid to determine your academic skills.

Ihercules is right. "honors" is just a fancy name. what is considered honors in one school might be considered average in another.

Ugh..fabulous.
iHerculez. Your a freshman, correct? Have you got a facebook?

um. 8th grader applying as a freshman. i got a facebook, just never used it.

same here, 8th applying as freshman. where do you live herculez? (just general area, not city or anything like that--I'm not a stalker :) )

MA, cross country from you.

haha, hey everyone seems to be all the way across the country! NOONE in oregon goes to boarding school, i am in a distinct minority.

I know someone in Oregon who is applying! :)

really? wow! i know one person whos is seriosuly applying and two who are applying because they think it's going to be like hogwarts or one of thsoe stupid novels where boarding school=exciting social life.

Crickett - We went to an Open House at St George's today and it is a beautiful school, but even more important was the fact that EVERYONE was incredibly friendly and helpful. If you have any questions, let me know.

Nellyrae... Have you visited or got interviewed by any of the schools you applied to?

Warriorboy...Have you visited any other schools? If you did, what was different about Sgs from the other schools? Is it your favorite school so far? Did you like the food?

We have visited a lot of schools: Loomis, Avon, Andover, Exeter, SPS, Governor's, NMH and lastly SG. We are visiting Hotchkiss, Choate and Deerfield in the next 2 weeks. All of the schools are within 2 hours so we are visiting and then my son will decide where he could see himself for the next 4 years.

The one thing that really stood out at SG were the people. We were there for several hours because it was an Open House. There was a great sense of comraderie. Even when 1 person was presenting, another staff member might cut in and make a joke. They also had a student panel that met with the parents while the students went to a class. The students weren't scripted and it was a very open conversation. Again, there was definitely a closeness among the students and staff. They told several stories about Middlesex Day (their biggest rival). SG's mascot is the dragon, Msx is the zebra. hey all wear t-shirts with a dragon eating a zebra. They also have a big bonfire where they burn a giant zebra. You had to be there, it was hysterical.

They also have nice facilities and some of the best dorms. Most are singles, but some of the doubles actually have 2 rooms.

I asked the tour guide why he chose SG. He was also accepted at Middlesex and Groton. He chose SG because of the people and the surplus of things to do on the weekend. Everyone goes to Newport to eat, shop and go to the movies. From his family's research they felt that SG and Middlesex were on par academically.

My son liked the school and will apply. It isn't his favorite because he doesn't like Sat classes or wearing a suit.

It would be my first choice because I would walk down the hill to the beach every chance I had.

herculez- i visited andover and exeter and ha dmy interviews there. i have a phone interview with SPS on monday. you?

warriorboy- I went to one in September and I completely agree! I talked to one other, though. She said that some people at SGS come off quite snobby in front of people who don't know them well but are really nice in actuality. Is that how it came across to you?
Do you live near Newport?
Our open house was at a family's home in Ridgefield, CT. (About 15 min from where we live)

We live a little over an hour from Newport. (I'm the parent.) We visit Newport all the time, but this was the first time my son had been there. I din't meet anyone that was even slightly snobby. We didn't have a scheduled interview and they arranged one. They made sure that we talked to the lax coach. It just had really good vibes. There weren't a bunch of stressed out, uptight, antisocial kids. Of course, Newport is one of my favorite places to go. There's great shopping and food, all within walking distance.

Does anyone have an accurate acceptance rate for SGS?
BSR does not count unless your positive that its dead-on :)

BSR isn't dead on - not even close. My understanding is that schools have to pay a fee to BSR to keep the information current. Most schools do not pay so the data is horribly out of date.
