Chances for Me?

Your best resource is to contact SG directly. I find that Peterson's is more accurate than BSR. Here is the info on SG St. George's School- School Overview
However, I think this info is for the class entering 2006, not the class entering 2007, even if the update date is Sept. '07. I think this is true for all of Peterson's data, because they ask for updates to publish hardcopy. If someone knows differently, please correct.

This question is SOO general that I dont even know why I'm asking. Haha. I'm looking for a ballpark figure. O.K. Here I go.

If you were looking at my stats and grades, what would be the admissions rate based schools I would be able to get into. i.e. "You would be accepted by 45% schools and +"

I didn't do a interview yet. I've been to almost every school I'm interested in except milton and andover. I've been to exeter couple of times and actually had a swim meet there. Sgs had a beautiful campus. I agree with warriorboy that I dislike the fact that you have to dress formal. However, most of the schools i'm interested in has a formal dress code. I guess no more jeans (at any school they won't allow you to wear jeans until after class)?!
When i went to Sgs, i noticed that they were very friendly too. The packet i got from Sgs said their acceptance rate was like in the high 20%.

Oh dear...20%?!

From the information I gathered, on Saturdays and on weekends, all the students are in jeans and sweats. Haha, thats where I'd fit in most :)

Crickett -- You are correct -- that question is too broad. Acceptance rates show more than the overall competitive level of the students. Geography, financial aid, % international, proximity to an urban center for day, etc. can really change acceptance rates. I don't think there is an easy answer. Sorry.

High 20%- aka 26%- 30%. It often depends on the year to. and FA is a big part because sgs doesn't have enough money to give away like Exeter.

The average FA award at St George (based on info provided on thier own web site is about $20,600. The average award at Exeter is $29,754 (on thier site). Yes, it's more, but it means that they BOTH give very large financial aid awards (likely FULL tutition) and give some of just a few thousand dollars. I know Exeter has the new initiative this year, and that should increase thier average somewhat, but I wonder how much? It might not really and might simply be a marketing "gimick" (for lack of a better word, not that it isn't real).

And also, St. Georges has 350 students compared to Exeter who has 1000+
Fewer students means more FA opportunities to give out but also less endowment.
I'd figure it all evens out to an extent.

Exeter, as I understand it, is going to do what they've been doing -- except that this year they feel that their track record and funding is such that they can announce it ahead of time and call it a policy. But it's my understanding that the new policy has been their practice for a couple years now. So...I wouldn't count on an increase in aid...at least not because of the new policy.

I'm a current student at St George's, so if any of you have any questions PM me and I'd be happy to answer them.

Prepchik91-
How do you view the student body at SGS?

Overall, the student body is very down to earth and laid back. It is very relaxed here - students don't care if you go to dinner in sweats with sopping wet hair and no makeup. I definitly wouldn't describe the students as cliquey, and almost everyone is friendly with each other. Since we're such a small community, students know almost everyone and you become really close with your peers. Some people say that SG students are snobby and stuck up, but this is totally wrong. Some people may seem snobby and intimidating when you first meet them, but everyone is so nice and nonjudgemental.

hey guys i am applying to penn charter and I think i only got an average percentile, and I have an average grade of an A, is there a chance i will get in...

on the SSAT (AVERAGE PERCENTILE)

Woah. You need to give us WAY more see my post =]

I agree. there is no way we can give the slightest bit of help with that info.

sorry for the little info, before, here are my statistics:
-5 A's
-2 B's
-73rd percentile on the SSAT
- recommendations=fantastic
- report card-great- very similar to the grades listed above
- good interview

~so do you guys think that i have a shot of getting in.

thank you

P.S. I think i did pretty bad on the SSAT

you look okay, but i'm hopeing that you forgot to give us your list of ec's. I don't know how competeitive the schools your applying fo are, but if you don't have some good ec's i don't know if it's going to work out. :(

sorry for asking this,

but, what are "ec's"

thank you

i am obviously applying to Penn charter as a day school-
and it is in Philadelphia but near the suburbs,
do you have any idea about how much people apply there?

~so i can find the acceptance rate total

thank you
