Chances for MLK Scholarship?

<p>Hi i was wondering what are my chances of getting the mlk scholarship?</p>

School: Independent Private School in NJ, very prestigious
Ethnicity: Pacific Islander (Filipino)</p>

<p>Personal Essay: talked about family background and ethnic roots, related to story about grand mother’s death and foreign parable, dealt with identity issues
Reccomendations: 2 teachers, did not read but are known for writing good recommendations</p>

<p>MLK Essay: Talked about experience in Haiti,talked about corruption of organization and how i “stood above it” and ignored their behavior to concentrate more on the people we were helping</p>

<p>other schools applied/applying: Villanova (deferred), BC (deferred), BU, Holy Cross, Providence College, NYU, Fordham, GW, Brown, Upenn</p>

<p>Notes: GPA is slightly on the lower end because of freshman & sophmore year, showed massive improvement in junior and senior years, all grades have been on an upward slope, will be taking January SATS (being sent directly to schools)</p>

<p>also, school does not release class rank and older brother is already attending BU</p>

<p>I think you’re definitely an in for BU, but I don’t know about the MLK… Don’t worry - I was in the same spot as you last year. In my mind, I felt like there was an 80% chance I would not get the scholarship, but then come March 26th I found out I did…so I really don’t know. It depends greatly on your essay and less about your grades and stuff. </p>

<p>yes i have read the article. I worked a number of hours on my MLK essay so i suspect it to be very good. and nomination form should be very good (written by a Harvard grad (religious teacher now) who i share a very close relationship with)</p>

<p>I know that stats don’t really matter but i was wondering if i could hear yours? (also extracurriculars and what not)</p>
