Chances for the oh so strange.

I feel like mobbing up the board with my stats, following the crowd and being oh so egotistical for a millisecond. So dish, now! :)

Stats:
• Fee Waiver Used?: No
• SAT I (by section):
1st time V: 650, M: 650, W: 580
2nd time V: 610, M: 670, W: 620
• SAT IIs: 670 Spanish Language, 700 U.S. History, 720 Biology E
• APs: 3 Euro, 4 US History
• GPA, Weighted and Unweighted: My school does not weigh averages, 3.85ish.
• Rank: School does not rank, a little under top 10%
• Senior Yr Courseload: AP Statistics, AP Spanish, AP US Gov, College Humanities, College Political Science (International Politics), Physical Education
• Number of Apps from Your School: 2 EA (the other applicant is your stereotypical science/math loving, violin playing Asian, with presumably higher SAT scores, but a comparable average), a bunch regular.
• Other Stats: Very competitive public school in NYC.

Subjective:
• ECs and awards submitted:
Girls Varsity Soccer - 9, 10, 11, 12
Moot Court/Mock Trial - 10, 11, 12, Captain
Summer Set Design Intern - 10, 11, 12
Summer Musical Theater Program (College credit) - 11
Housing Works (Community service) 9, 10
Sets/Posters/Artwork for school shows/showcases
Organizing Spring Cultural Festival

Awards, I put down a lot of stuff, mainly academic, Latin, Math, and Science, because my school lacks humanities concentrated awards.

• Job/Work Experience: None paid, only internships.
• Essays (subjects):
CA: Burning things (an extended metaphor that was about my creativity)
Sup: Summer experience at internship. Descriptive narrative that lets you step in my shoes.
• Teacher Recs: (USHistory/Stat) Good, great, I guess. (One I feel will talk about how I pursue my interests outside the classroom, and the other will give a better picture of the kind of student I am--but I really don't know, I haven't read them.)
• Counselor Rec: God only knows. Decent, good, who knows. They are all secretive about it, and claim it's going to be fab.
• Interview (feel and general location):
Above average. I don't know. An hour an a half isn't enough time. We had conversation, I was myself, nothing bad happened.
• Hook (if any): I'm Asian, and I'm not going to be an engineer or doctor? The ECs I'm interested in. First to graduate from college? (It will likely be read as 1st generation to go...)
Location/Person:
• City, State or Country: New York City
• School Type, Average Stats of School (if available): Public, average GPA 90.3, average SAT V: 637, M: 644, W: 656
• Ethnicity: Asian
• Income Bracket: lower middle or middle, something like that.
• Gender: female
• Strengths/Weaknesses: A non stereotypical asian female. Standardized tests are weak for Yale, and I lack national or even state recognition for my activities. I think I got across to my interviewer that eventhough there are not that many theater opportunities at school I pursue out of school activities and programs (6 theater related college credits, and other activities should be mentioned in my counselor letter)
• Why you think you will accepted/deferred/denied: you tell me.

Be brutal if necessary. Thank You.

I'll just say now that I really don't know much.

However, for an over-represented minority, your SAT scores are very low, especially for the insano applicant pool at Yale. I think you have less than 10% chances, because your scores are significantly below the average.

I could be completely misinformed, though. Good luck!

I'd say they're going to bump you to regular admission. You have a better chance there. I don't know...improve you SATs and then I'd say you have a great chance. Your extra curriculars are great, so, in fact--depending on how much you evidenced your passion for them in you essays--you could very well get in EA. Good luck.

Um, as far as i'm concerned there's nothing wrong with being cautiously optimistic, but be sure to be extra cautious... I have a friend with a 2350 and a 99 average who's #3 in our class (although our school isn't as competitive as yours, it's a good public school, and #3 is top 1%) and he thinks he barely has a chance of getting in...

Best of luck!

A narcissistic bump!
