You look like a “match” to UF. About 50% of admissions is based on GPA/Class Rigor/Essay and then to a slightly less degree of importance, test scores. The other 50% is based on EC’s, volunteer, work, leadership, etc.

Keep in mind that UF will recalculate your GPA. They only consider academic classes, will drop any “-” or “+” (all of your “A-” will be treated as “A’s”), they give plus 0.5 points to honor classes, and +1.0 points to AP, IB, AICE, or Duel Enrollment classes. For example, your “C+” in Calc AB would be worth 3 points (C, drop the +, add a point for being an AP class), while the “A-” in English III Honors is worth 4.5 points (4 points for an “A”, and then +0.5 points for the honors).

Your EC’s are fine (for UF). Holistic admissions can seem a bit random, so apply, but make sure you also apply to a few other colleges.

Good Luck!

Do you have the red book? Get that and the online practice test from ACT, and practice a different section every day under timed conditions. The key thing my son did was to review every single question he missed, as well as any questions that were a close call (circle those as you’re practicing). You start to see patterns of what you’re missing. Consider utilizing a math tutor to see if you can drive up your math score a little bit. I wouldn’t spend a ton of time on English with a 33 (still do some review though). Science is very hit or miss in our experience. Our son started with in the 32+ range and on a later test dropped to the high 20’s (but picked up points elsewhere). At some point last year they changed the emphasis of the science section a little (or so I heard). You might want to surf around for ideas on how to maximize your reading section. There are techniques out there, and if you could find something that works for you then that is ideal.

If you could nudge up that ACT a little I would feel pretty good about your UF chances. At Preview this year, they said it was the highest ‘stats’ class ever. That being said, I basically agree with Gator88 - excellent comments as always.

Wishing you the best in your senior year!

@Gator88NE thank you so much!

@SouthFloridaMom9 thank you so much for your response!!
