What are my chances of getting into UC Berkeley?

Before I start, I don’t want anyone to get the wrong intention that I’m trying to boast about my accomplishments. It has always been my dream to go to UC Berkeley and I’ve been extremely worried lately about my chances. I go to a public school and unfortunately, only a few students have gotten accepted to highly-selective universities. Now with that being said, here are my achievements so far:

-4.9 weighted GPA, 3.7 unweighted
-ACT score of 34
-I will have taken 12 AP classes by the end of senior year. (AP Biology, AP Chemistry, AP Physics B, AP Physics C, AP Calculus BC, AP Government and Politics, AP World History, AP United States History, AP Psychology, AP Language and Composition, AP Literature and Composition, and AP Computer Science)
-I intend to volunteer at the hospital this summer.
-I’ve participated in three extracurriculars - debate team, speech team, and robotics.

*I plan on applying for the medical program there.

Do you guys think that I have a decent chance?

I think your chances are great, as long as your extracurriculars shined in your little descriptions and your essays were great. Also, are you talking about the UCB-UCSF medical program? That’s after undergraduate school, I believe.

UC weighted GPA?

Also, the discrepancy between your unweighted and weighted GPA seems like it’s too large…are you sure that’s right?

My school has an odd weight system. For every honors/AP course, .222225 is added to your overall GPA. So if you had 2 B’s and 4 A’s with 5 of those being honors/A, you would have approximately a 5.0 weighted and 3.6 unweighted.

That’s why you need to put your grades into a UC weight calculator to recalculate your GPA for UC admissions.

@jovy23 Oh that’s very interesting! Sorry it might have seemed like I was doubting you, I was just curious. Awesome job!
