Chances For Uc's And Cal Poly

If you guys could please tell me what UCs i could get into that would be greatly appreciated. this is just based off of my sophmore and junior year.

W GPA : 3.83 - 3.95

honors + AP = AP US history, honors physics, honors math anal, and honors spanish III

SAT: 2050

VP racquet club, interact club, JV tennis 1 year and varsity tennis 2 years, math club, forensics, 200 hours of volunteer work, and i am looking to take summer courses at UCLA or UCB.

I got two C's my sophmore year because i had terrible sinus infections and was pretty much hospitalized for a week because of the infections. I had surgery over my sophmore summer and my grades have improved and i have a pretty tough schedule and am getting mostly B's :/

sorry for the trouble and thanks once again.

i also live in california and come from a pretty competitive school.

what is your UC GPA? If it is the same as your weighted GPA of around a 3.8-3.9, your chances are:

3.8-3.9 GPA and 2050 SAT:
UCB/UCLA: Slight Reach
UCSD: Match
UCI/UCSB/UCD: Safe Match
UCSC/UCR/UCM: Safety

if your uc gpa is slightly lower, such as a 3.7, then your odds would be:

3.7 GPA and 2050 SAT:
UCB/UCLA: Reach
UCSD: Slight Reach
UCI/UCSB/UCD: Match
UCSC/UCR/UCM: Safe Match-Safety

this is really stupid on my part but can you please tell me how to calculate the UC gpa?

thanks once again

feezy:

Assuming you are a California resident,
UCB/UCLA: Slight Reach
UCSD: Match
UCI/UCD/UCSB: Safe Match
UCSC/UCR/UCM: Safety

The UC GPA is computed by using the calculation from this link:

http://www.universityofcalifornia.edu/admissions/undergrad_adm/paths_to_adm/freshman/scholarship_reqs.html

Make sure you use only the sophomore and junior years to calculate the GPA and don't add more than 8 extra grade points (1 for each extra honors course you took during these years) when you are figuring out the average.

Also, here's how they determine who gets in:

http://www.universityofcalifornia.edu/admissions/general_info/uc_reviews/freshman_app.html

Good luck.

^ OP said he/she lives in Cali. :P

UCB/UCLA: Reach (GPA/SAT kinda low)
UCSD: high match
UCI/UCSB/UCD: match / safe match
UCSC/UCR/UCM: safety

Cal Poly: match
