Chances for University of Michigan-Ann Arbor

i got into U Mich with 3.1 around top 30%-40% of class and 15XX SATs (Old Scale)...got into Ross Preadmit and got merit money too.... but i also go to one of the most prestigious BS in the nation..

is your school extremely competitive?

btw to whoever posted, 40-50% is not a shame.it all comes down to what school you go to

bearcats... you go to one of the top prep schools in the country... (yeah yeah I'm jealous...)

I'd say, you have a pretty low chance of getting in (Reach).

If you want to transfer in, MSU is a great choice (and you might even like it there). I'm a student at WMU currently, and I got into Michigan with a 4.0 College GPA, 2.75 UMich High school GPA, 26 ACT - Fall 2007 semester

I had similar situations in high school (family instead of health), which I wrote my essays about.

As far as transfer GPA goes, I personally think a 3.3 is too low. To be secure at least, I'd want to say to keep at least a 3.5-3.7

well i just didnt like the guy who posted that being in top 40-50% is a shame..it sure isnt

Do you think it would be very hard to get a 3.5-3.7 at michigan state, and my school is fairly top heavy. Multiple students with 4.0's and 3.9's.

Michigan is out of my reach to with my current GPA (barely higher than yours). It's a shame they almost automatically rule out low GPA's. Although I may have a better excuse (I am in the top 15% of my class in Holland) I still think they will rule me out.
Ohio State, Michigan State, Madison etc are all great schools anyway. Especially Madison.
Transferring is the way to go to UM in your situation, or just apply to it and write the best essay human kind has ever seen and who knows...

oh and btw, don't listen to anyone saying that you have to go to a community college and die if your GPA is lower than 4.0, SAT's aren't higher than 2300 and you haven't cured cancer...
