Hello guys/gals im a sophmore in highschool and i slipped up my 1st semster with a 2.5 i know i can get straight As the rest of my high school years and i want to know do you think i still have a shot at going to UC Berkeley or move on. I havent done any extra activites but im going to start my 2nd semester sophmore year with ochestra and i need more ideas im willing to do any activity could you also give and advance and let me know what you think please

anybody please

I would strive to make it to berkely but don’t be disapointed because your 2.5 gpa in first semester is going to make it a real reach school for you. Orchesta is good to do, however i personally beleive that it won’t make a large impact on college admission readers. Think about how many people apply saying that they participated in band or orchestra… there are hundreds of thousands. I would do somthing that shows leadership, as that will make the most difference and impact on colleges. I would recommend starting a club at your school that focuses on community service. Also, start studying for the SAT or ACT this summer so you can take it as a junior

If you truly can get 4.0 for the rest of HS, take lots of AP/Honors, and convincingly explain what happened, then Berkeley will still be possible.

Your unweighed GPA will reach a max of 3.6 which is still within striking distance. But you need to work extremely hard now!

Don’t do an EC just to get into college because it come off as phony immediately, but do try to find some leadership positions.

I really like this websites, and thanks alot for your advice/opinions/facts.

Go out and get involved in your community on a larger scale - start a service club or small business, apply for internships, etc. Get those grades up and start studying for the SAT and and ACT now. I am a Berkeley hopeful myself. Good luck! Enough passion and commitment can get you anywhere.
