Chances...huge upward trend.

What are my chances. My UC GPA is definitely low, but i have a huge upward trend. Sophomore year a was a b- student, and by the end i was an AB student, (freshman was bad too, with a 3.17). Junior year i got almost straight As and managed to raise my UC gpa to from a measily 3.1, to a 3.8 in 1 year.

So i have the huge upward trend and whatnot.
My test scores are great,(well 2s are ok)
ACT 32 (might even go up. taking again)

Math2c- 670 (bleh)
History-670 (crap)

Ecs are good, and Essays will be great (already been working on them)
Do UCs take Recs, because if they do, my counselor is writing the best one ever. Im his favorite student in my class, mostly because of how much i have changed in academics.

Also, my course requirements exceed what is required.
I have 4 years of english (normal), 4 years of History/social science, 5 years of math, 3 lab science, and 9 foreign language (spanish1-honors4 and japanese1-ap)

My intended major is east asian studies. I took spanish, and am not too into it. I plan on doing business in asia in the future. I started japanese this summer at the university of chicago. Ill be starting this year off with japanese 4 honors, and then next semester taking AP japanese.
And i got an A in the university of chicago course, if sending that transcript might help.

Im a california resident.
What about the other UCs too?

UCs do not take Recs.

Talk about the U Chi course you took in the essay about how you used academics to the fullest extent or whatever.

upward trend means squat to ucsd...it's a formula they calculate to decide your acceptance.

match~~~~~~~~~`

i definitely will, especially since Japanese is something i am very passionate about. Actually the only thing in academics that i am passionate about right now.
By a few weeks into school i will actually be at about intermediate level japanese (i have a private tutor now that im back from chicago) so the class is going to really be a joke for me for the most part, but UCSD doesnt know. And then im going to continue with a tutor through summer (of 08) and hopefully be able to start college in advanced japanese (level 3).

UCSD is mostly about point system. you are lucky that freshmen year grades are not included in GPA, so even if your freshmen year sucks, it's still ok. you get points on GPA, test scores, whether or not you're a first generation college student, how many classes you have taken...

just check out the point system. you should get some idea on where you are standing after you try putting yourself through the point system. here's a very detailed site on the point system: http://www.geocities.com/kisasong/UCSDComprehensive.htm

you are asking on your other thread about whether or not to sent your transcript. nah, don't send it in. what u are supposed to do is mention that on your UC apps.

PS: i got 670 on SAT history too and i took japanese too (except i took 3 courses at community college and they're easy... but GAMBATTE!)
