Chances? I'm no genius here like the rest of you...

Compared to the rest of you, I'm a pretty weak applicant. But, I'm also not a HYPSM applicant, either. My standards are lower, perhaps a little (or a lot) too high... But I'm just curious. And yes, my list is a little long. But that's how the college counsellors at my school like it. It may get shortened, however.

GPA- Seems weaker at surface value than it is. 3.4/4.0 at an extremely competitive/well-known Jesuit prep school in Chicago. My frosh yr, very very very weak. I wasn't used to having to try to do well in school. Soph yr, semi-strong. Jr. yr- strong. Very obvious upward grade trend with courses increasing in difficulty.

SCORES- weak, i know. SAT I= 1280/1600. 2000/2400. ACT= 27 (retaking in Sept. Will hopefully be MUCHHHHH higher. Around a 30. I was very sick on the ACT test day). Also, my top choice doesn't require standardized test scores.

COURSES- 7 AP/Honors classes

ESSAY- very strong. no, really, it is.

RECS- also very strong. one from an honors history class teacher who once asked my parents if i "could be more perfect?" one from either an AP Chem/ Integrated Science 1 teacher who loved me OR from an English 110 teacher/Track coach

ECs- ehhh. this is all badddd.

2. Tutor inner-city kids sophomore and senior year
3. 20 hours of community service at Greater Chicago Food Depository soph yr
4. 20 hours of comm. service at Norwood Pk. Nursing Home frosh yr
5. Competitive gymnast for 9.5 yrs.
6. Week-long service trip to Cairo, IL in summer 2007
7. About 9,564 track camps/training programs that take up a lot of my summer/off-season

AWARDS-
1. A ton of t&f awards
2. Awarded scholarship in 2004 for outstanding scholastic work and community participation/service
3. Honor roll, etc.

COLLEGES-
1. College of the Holy Cross (MA)- probably E.D.
2. Villanova
3. Santa Clara
4. Saint Louis University*
5. Loyola Chicago*
6. Providence College
* indicates a Jesuit College. Going from a Jesuit HS to a Jesuit college is often very helpful.

So yeah, not a super-strong applicant. I guess I just don't sound that awesome when you reduce me to a two-dimensional 8x11 piece of paper. I'm just wondering if I'm in way over my head or anything. I'm also open to suggestions. Thanks! =]

in at all.

even holy cross? that's gotten super competitive in the past couple years... i'd LOVE to go there, though. It's my dreammmm school. I just got back from a visit and I'd more or less give my right leg to go there.

Oh wait, I mean... class of 2008, Holy Cross is yucky! Don't apply! haha just kidding.

The only tough ones might be The Cross and Villanova...but coming from Chicago and a Jesuit HS might help. If you ACT is much higher, I would submit it to HC because it might help. Also, since you're looking at the Northeast, have you considered Fairfield in Connecticut. It's a quick train ride, Jesuit, and the campus is beautiful. In fact, I know yuou like HC, but Worcester itself is pretty depressing. Good Luck on all of them..I am sure you'll do great.

Do you go to Cristo Rey?

No I go to St. Ignatius. Are you from Chicago? In any event, it was a good guess since there's only three Jesuit schools in the Chicago area...
